    La Piazza | ?m | 1s | McCauley Development Co-Op

Not sure if X rated video stores are really still much of a thing, so the example might be a bit dated, but there are various other undesirable activities that she and others might not want here or nearby. I know someone else involved in the cooperative and hoped this would be successful, but...

Edmonton City Centre Mall (Renovations) | ?m | 2s | LaSalle Investment Management

Yes, it is good to see the intent to maintain it. I wonder if applying for the permit now is may also be a way to facilitate or make it easier for new ownership to proceed with this.

    Tower 101 | 175m | 50s | Regency Developments | DER + Associates

I fear the risk is we could end up just replacing one vacant lot with another or end up with two instead of just one in yet another attempt to wipe the slate clean. If we should have learned anything from this debacle and various others in the past, it is we are too quick here to tear down...

    O-day’min Park (formerly Warehouse Park)

The park seems to have a nice mix of deciduous and spruce trees, the former are nice in summer and the latter in winter. While spruce are fairly native, they are not best for bright open spaces, especially if hot and dry.

What, we are not the only place where grandiose projects are proposed and don't go ahead!?

Edmonton's population is booming, where are all the new proposals?

I feel most cities are tough for developers right now. However, some of them had more high rise projects planned/started before it became so tough.

Edmonton City Centre Mall (Renovations) | ?m | 2s | LaSalle Investment Management

The relocation of Dollarama to the Shoppers space would be a good idea. Of course it is also up to the tenant, but it seems like this would be a better space for them also.

So wouldn't a sale be a solution to that?

    General Infill Discussion

This is exactly why there were zoning rules before it seemed to have become a free for all, so more density would be built where it made sense (ie. around transit), not where it did not.

    Stollery Children's Hospital

Yeah, I don't think the lack of care in site selection is a good sign this will actually go ahead. We have been strung along several times by this government already.

    Stollery Children's Hospital

Actually daily LRT ridership is much more than 50,000 so that number seems off and given the cost of hospital parking, there is more of an incentive to use LRT. Has the province funded this blue line yet? When is it going to be built?

    Stollery Children's Hospital

Who? What does "involved" mean? Do they support this choice?

    Stollery Children's Hospital

Yes, the hospital will serve all of Northern Alberta, but importantly it will also serve Edmonton. Lets not forget there are over 1 million people in Edmonton, Swan Hills for example has 1,300.

    Stollery Children's Hospital

This is a major project and the building wherever located will have to serve people for many decades, so a lot of care should be put into choosing a site that works well for all the people it serves. Or perhaps the Alberta government doesn't really give a damn about them and is trying to rush a...

    Stollery Children's Hospital

Why couldn't it be built closer to the South Campus LRT, that would have made more sense?
  16. D

    Stollery Children's Hospital

Yeah, if you don't build in a place closer to and more accessible by LRT then most people will have to end up driving there. It will need to have much more parking, which because it is adjacent to a hospital will probably be paid parking and likely will be quite full anyways. So will the...

    General Infill Discussion

If someone is going to build some ugly monstrosity in a residential area with 16 units, lets not try pretend it is "gentle" density, really. Just built a decent apartment building instead. Really.

    Sedona Apartments | ?m | 9s | ProCura Real Estate | DIALOG

The world is in an economic funk now, so unfortunately it would not be surprising if nothing happens here quickly, but I hope this does not sit too long.

    Luxury Real Estate in Alberta

Yes and in some of these pictures the furniture seems like islands in a sea of space. I suppose some people get all this excess space just because they can, but so much of it seems wasted or unused.

    General Food & Dining Thread

It couldn't have been easy over the last few years and sounds like they may be making some progress with finding a buyer, but initial expectations seemed very unrealistic which is probably why it has taken so long. I feel the drawn out sale process is probably also taking attention away from...
