Bit late but never mind Phase 2, even Phase 1 is stalled for now? https://renx.ca/ice-district-tower-shelved-cwb-to-move-to-manulife-place

    Metro Line LRT | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

According to the proposed 2023 operating budget, only the new NAIT station is to open for service next year (alternative case). Guess there is neither the trains or need to operate service to Blatchford Gate for the time being.

    Yellowhead Trail Upgrades

So come 2024, the only stretches of roadwork left would be St Albert Trail - 97 St and the 66 St overpass? The rest will be 80 km/h?

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

I thought all routes that go outside City borders would be transferred, altho other people who follow EMTSC progress more closely / have ins would be better informed to comment. I wonder if the 91 st extension by Leduc County (Nisku Spine Road) will be a transit route as well. The City really...

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

It's not a priority because the regional transit commission is taking it over?

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

But garbage is subject to induced demand! 😂 🤣

Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in Edmonton

Keep in mind that any bus route to the airport will be regional and therefore operated by the EMTSC. A downtown-airport bus would probably piggyback off the BRT infrastructure built for the Gateway corridor. Honestly I'm hoping that coach buses will be deployed on that route since it's...

    LRT Expansion Planning

https://www.edmonton.ca/projects_plans/transit/2022-mid-season-lrt-construction-update A mid-year update on the LRT work happening throughout the city. I wonder if there's a map showing what the LRT network will look like once the current projects are complete, right now all the plans show the...

    Capital Line LRT

Churchill needs way more work than a fancy new entrance. As it is, Stadium ended up getting the overhaul, in time for the FIFA 2026 games watch parties.

Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in Edmonton

Well that's a new one. Guess the City is really trying to avoid using the term 'Rapid' or any such synonym. On the other hand there are a couple more routes planned like 118 Ave, 82 st, and Argyll.

    Capital Line LRT

I thought the Feds already announced their portion of funding last year? Or was that just an election promise?

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

Sydney and Canberra also have similar LRT systems (Sydney even has a similar atrocity to the Whyte crossing where their Southeast line branches), and they haven't seen the need to add crossing arms. That said, winter is the real test. I'm worried about the section of 83 St in front of...

Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in Edmonton

I doubt the public's appetite for new river crossings -- rebuilding / widening of existing bridges is the only real option, and the Walterdale is the easiest since it was built with an extra lane in mind. Honestly, I think it's a missed opportunity that the proposed High Level rehab doesn't...

    Metro Line LRT | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

The Metro line was actually delivered on budget, but the signalling issues kinda overshadowed everything then and after. The complaints have been minimal since resignalling was completed, but the real test is post-COVID traffic.

    Capital Line LRT

This is the Capital line though so at least buses on 114 Ave can run parallel to the LRT. Metro line literally competes with buses at intersections unless they take 109 St instead. I disagree about no point in comparing 'what-ifs' -- it would make for very boring discussions otherwise.

    Metro Line LRT | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

A little aside: the City had the choice of "fixing" the original NAIT line by grade separating past 105 St, or extending the line to Blatchford. No prizes for guessing which option the City went with. https://pub-edmonton.escribemeetings.com/filestream.ashx?DocumentId=10617...

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

Theoretically, at-grade will have people running over tracks no matter what. With a raised station like Davies, you can at least encourage people not to do so through design. TransEd obviously thought it was enough of a problem that they changed it. They're the ones who're going to get sued...
