I know Cartmell put forth an amendment last year to analyze the effect of a 25-35% reduction in annual spending on neighborhood renewal, which council ultimately passed by 10-2. (Link.) If there was something other than that, I guess I missed it.

Hyrciw is definitely picking some provocative targets, but it's definitely emblematic of a real shitty hand that our city council has to deal with. Stakeholders are actively trying to rob Peter to pay Paul. I don't think it's going to turn out well.

Here's the problem that I have with this plan: If you do not, or cannot, "offer specifics", your plan is not helpful. Identify exactly what you consider to be worth cutting, and then we can debate it.

This is now open; it looks charming, and they had Christmas tunes projected outside on exterior speakers when I walked by yesterday. Quite the vibe. Really impressive transformation of the space.

I'm not sure I agree with this. Smith, I believe, favors Cartmell. We have ample evidence in support of this theory: 1) Smith and Cartmell met privately (before Smith even met Sohi!); 2) Smith appointed Cartmell (and Hamilton) to a provincial task force without consulting the mayor or city...

Cartmell has stated that the other candidates under his party banner will not be his "minions" but he will their "captain". I'm not particularly optimistic that this distinction will prove meaningful.

I've never lived in a Leston building, either, but professionally I have had some exposure to how they work, and, from what I can tell, they're one of the more reasonable (from a fairness perspective) larger-scale landlords in the city.

The early voting period is December 10-14. That should help a bit, but if anyone was done their classes or exams by then and planned to travel, it will create some barriers.
