The lights don't turn on at night yet either it seems
Just went by yesterday and it's still closed. There was one construction worker walking around on the bridge though..Are there any updates at all on the Whitemud SUP? Would be nice to not have to use that horrible path down to Snow Valley to go E-W.
I see the project page on the city website says "Summer 2026". Ugh I hope it doesn't turn out to be August 2026 because that would be a bit disappointing.Just went by yesterday and it's still closed. There was one construction worker walking around on the bridge though..
0 hustle to open. So frustrating. Could be done in a week if needed. From this evening’s walk.

They'd have to integrate the ends to the SUPs in a way that it doesn't have structural problems. They clearly still have the land surrounding it excavated, so they need to clean that part up first. Not to mention that, assuming they have a relatively small crew, the Rainbow Bridge takes precedence over the pedestrian path.0 hustle to open. So frustrating. Could be done in a week if needed.

The pictures were of the 142 Street Pedestrian/Cyclist Bridge, which passes over the Whitemud, not the new Rainbow Valley Pedestrian Bridge that looks very complete save for some paving.Bridge is still open and cross-able.
That pedestrian connection has no detour. Having almost no work done for months is frustrating.
I know. That’s why I’m saying they should get it opened already as there’s basically no detour for that crossing. Massive missing link they’re dragging their feet on finishing. The pictures were of the 142 Street Pedestrian/Cyclist Bridge, which passes over the Whitemud, not the new Rainbow Valley Pedestrian Bridge that looks very complete save for some paving.
But even then, the 142 Street Pedestrian/Cyclist Bridge had a decent amount of work. I do hope they finish within the summer months.
It’s incredible how much wasted land there is around this whole interchange…Terwillegar Drive Expansion - Stage Two

As part of the project, the retaining walls are complete and the noise wall (southbound Whitemud Drive, 47A Avenue to 45 Avenue) was completed in 2025.
- A new bus-only lane from 53 Avenue to Terwillegar Drive, bypassing the Terwillegar Drive/Whitemud Drive interchange is complete.
- A southbound bus stop will be provided at 53 Avenue for Route 31 Leger starting in June 2026. Future service information will be shared on Transit.
