Edmonton Nightlife (past and present)

That may be a bit small and out of the way, isn't it?
The old Rexall space in the Stantec Tower would garner more visibility.
Definitely not out of the way, as it’s right across the street from the Ice District plaza, but yes, it is kinda small (then again, so was the dance floor at WSP Place)

Restaurant franchisor Foodtastic says it has acquired Central Social Hall.

The Alberta chain has two casual restaurant-bars in the Edmonton area.

Foodtastic did not say what it paid for the brand but says it intends to expand Central Social Hall in Alberta and other Canadian provinces over the next few years.

It says it pursued the acquisition because it wanted to add more strong Canadian brands to its portfolio.

Foodtastic is also behind many Second Cup, Milestones, Freshii, Quesada, PitaPit and Jimmy John’s restaurants.

Central Social Hall was founded in 2012 by Jerry Rota and Jesse Kupina.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published Feb. 20, 2026.

The chain’s central Edmonton location on Jasper Avenue and 109 Street is no longer open.
Expand and no longer open seem contradictory, but perhaps relocation to Ice District explains it.

+ Not really any feasible patio space in the big corner space in FOX II.

You know what I would love to see? Central (or another similar proprietor) take the space where the Scotiabank used to be in Rice Howard Place and build it out with a roof top patio above.
