These are the zones that I will comment on one by one... starting with zone 1 at 81st Avenue and Gateway Blvd.

^ In reference to the above map, I submit my thoughts on a written architectural program for Zone 1. While working on Zone 2, I am also going to contact some of the landowners and businesses that would be directly impacted in the Zone 1 effort hoping to get their feedback and support, an outcome that could help to make this a reality.

Zone 2 is significantly more intense than Zone 1 and defines more of a central heart for Old Strathcona...

Gateway is a major artery into the city. You're saying you want to block it off to pedestrians only?

^ No -- I am proposing depressing it underneath Old Strathcona -- pedestrian elements above; roadway below. Access points to Old Strathcona at 80th Avenue, Parking near the Farmers' Market and off ramp at Saskatchewan Drive. If anything the drive into central Edmonton via Gateway would be less constricted and Old Strathcona would be freed up in terms of major roadways cutting it up into ribbons of vehicle-dominant arterials.

Zones 3 & 4 combined feature a unique park built over a large 2-level parking garage and a bunch of other amenities...

The Side Door is opening in the Old Strathcona Farmer's Market and will apparently offer farmer's market products six days a week.

EDIT: I'm told it opens October 7.

Granted that it it's a weekend and thus a normal farmer's market day, but The Side Door seems to be doing well.
