Westrich and a future development site.

Well @IanO I just did a 311 because the sidewalk on the southside of the building is brutal with ice and hasn't been addressed for weeks. Not sure if Westrich is responsible for this sidewalk or the city.
People are walking in bike lane because it's really poor footing.

Please check it out if Westrich is responsible as office is only a block away from this site.

Good.

I've escalated this as it was to be dealt with weeks ago and clearly was not.

As a pedestrian first, we must have proper clearing of sidewalks.

I will be ensuring this does not happen again, here or otherwise.

This is the second Westrich property that has been an issue. Maybe company has more properties than they can properly manage.

Another reason why we should have the central city zone cleared by the city as a benefit to residents and business owners in our most productive land area of the city.

The patchwork of private residents and businesses leaves too many potential weak links where the chain can break. If even just a few storefronts across many blocks are horrible kept, it makes trips undesirable if not impossible. Doesn’t matter that 90% of other walkways are clean.

I'm personally looking into the root of this issue and will have changes made to avoid this unfortunate issue in the future, here and otherwise.

Confirmed that this is the current tenant's responsibility and will be speaking with them today.

So yesterday this sidewalk scored a 0 out of 10 for snow/ice maintenance.

And after getting addressed yesterday, it's a 3 out of 10. When I took these pics this morning, I again encountered somebody walking in bike lane.

It's better and a good portion of ice removed from yesterday, but not nearly good enough.

I love how some owners just heap piles of salt on there and hope mother nature does the heavy lifting. Lots in my neighbourhood!

That was exactly the response here - a lot of ice melt and let it take care of the ice over a few days. No concern that the ice isn't removed sooner than later.

Our winter temperatures are very variable and you have to pay close attention to them. If you do not deal with this quickly or when it is briefly warmer, you can end up having to be out with the ice scrappers and chippers which is not fun or easy. In their defense, I noticed that was happening this morning, but it would have been much better if this was dealt with sooner.

It helps when the temp is close to zero or above...not when it's -25 for days on end.

I use it on my sidewalks when the temps are decent and give it a few hours and then I'm back out there with a ice breaker. Works like a charm.
