Received the following email from Affordable Storage this morning

To be fair, I still have my storage (old books, maps, comics, CDs, videos, etc.) secured at this location courtesy of River City Storage. That said, I don't mind at all if they vacate this building and move everything to the new Affordable Storage building near Unity Square once they open later this year.

Is this the exciting announcement promised to be "coming soon" by Westrich?
So back to storage for now? At least the sign looks nice(r). IMO this would be a great building to be redeveloped into upscale lofts, like the nearby Phillips building and several other old warehouses in the warehouse district were a few decades ago.

So the historic building could then be preserved and perhaps even enhanced. This also seems to happen a lot in other cities, but maybe Edmonton just lacks the vision here and right now.

Westrich and a future development site.

Well @IanO I just did a 311 because the sidewalk on the southside of the building is brutal with ice and hasn't been addressed for weeks. Not sure if Westrich is responsible for this sidewalk or the city.
People are walking in bike lane because it's really poor footing.

Please check it out if Westrich is responsible as office is only a block away from this site.

Good.

I've escalated this as it was to be dealt with weeks ago and clearly was not.

As a pedestrian first, we must have proper clearing of sidewalks.

I will be ensuring this does not happen again, here or otherwise.

This is the second Westrich property that has been an issue. Maybe company has more properties than they can properly manage.
