Knack sees multiple economic opportunities for the city — the biggest being the Royal Canadian Air Force considering using land near the airport for a new western CC-330 Husky base. Knack said he wants the city to prioritize landing the new base.

“That could be literally hundreds of billions of dollars in this economy,” he said.

The more new downtown office jobs for professional careerists, the better. I can see future opportunities with AI, machine learning, data centres, finance, hydrogen, oil & gas, retail, hospitality, health sciences, agriculture, forestry and various start-ups.

It's encouraging to see a renewed focus on communication and outreach along with a focus on attracting "office jobs".
You are correct! Let's focus on our strengths, which we already do - AI, BioPharma, Innovation and Tech, Hydrogen, Oil and Gas operations, Oil & Gas logistics hub. YYC is grasping at straws by bringing in the Tencent from China and have them control our online banking industry with their investment in Neo Financial - that's the majority of where their "start up money" has gone to btw, Billions. Right now, YYC is so desperate to fill their empty towers that they are collaborating with their zoo and bringing in 1000's of monkeys, shaving them and dressing them in suits complete with little fidora's to take up office space.....

Not sure I feel comfortable expanding military facilities in Edmonton. In a coming poly-enemy war, it makes us a target.
We’re already a primary target in any conflict involving Canada due to our substantial oil and gas mid/downstream infrastructure (refinery row, Fort Sask, Redwater).
