Edmonton could grow to 1.25M people in two years, says administration
Edmonton city council was briefed on the city's growth pressures and potential solutions during intensive orientation overview
On the contrary, their timing was excellent. They've just been elected or re-elected. Four years is an eternity in politics.Write to those wayward councillors.
Make sure they understand they just made a big mistake.
Very poor timing on their part.
Not to sound like a PR person for Andrew Knack, but seeing on socials he is connecting with a lot of people in his first weeks in the top job. Just in the last 10 days -
Premier Smith
Naheed Nenshi
Edmonton Chamber of Commerce
Tim Cartmell (who he hopes to continue to connect with on city issues/initiatives)
And several groups including Chinatown leaders, Action for Healthy Communities and Youth Guardian Program.
We could try to copy a page out of YYC’s playbook as well!!!! We could try to lure all the many Central Asian call Center conglomerates and have them set up highly competitive and extremely lucrative “Fintech” Call Centers! Ones in which the workers at said Call Centers answer the phone with: “thank you for calling GE capital, Bank of America, Scotiabank, Best Buy, Chase Bank, Kroger, Applebees, Fifth 3rd bank, Penn State university admissions, California state power, Florida Alligator control, Seattle Power and Light…..how may I direct your call? It's encouraging to see a renewed focus on communication and outreach along with a focus on attracting "office jobs".
