    General Infill Discussion

I think it’s an interesting discussion about accessibility for all people, but especially new Canadians who might not have English as their strongest language. I’ve had a number of friends that are Indian, Nigerian, and Ukrainian complain about it. I think the best approach if they wanted to...

    Metro Line LRT | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

I’m pretty worried about large capital projects. High Level Bridge, Metro Line NW, a ton of bus replacements, colesium stations, downtown LRT station/entrance refreshes, stollery/hospitals, jasper ave renewal, whyte ave renewal, BRT. Some critical stuff, but the money seems to be drying up.

ETS Bus and General Transit Improvements

Remove scrambles, but also cut in half the intersection cycle times. Why a pedestrian is waiting 60-120 seconds at lights in our downtown is beyond stupid. 30-45 seconds tops. Keep people moving. Especially in the cold.

The Edmonton Method - Snow Removal

Here’s the good news, sorta like the clown show of Toronto’s new LRT. If it’s bad enough, it forces change. I suspect council, especially our new ones, will want to see improvements here as one of the first big/public criticisms many of them are facing. We need improvements for roads, and...

Yeah. Or just the tone of everything being a conspiracy and simple to fix is frustrating. There’s definitely stuff the city could do better. But not everything is a shady scandal.

The Edmonton Method - Snow Removal

Just a clown show of a day out there in Whikwentowin and west central. Embarrassing. Loved helping to pick up an elderly man who had flipped his scooter in snow on the sidewalk in our densest urban neighborhood of 20k people. Bike lanes are a joke. Private sidewalks a mess. Alleys horrible...

The Edmonton Method - Snow Removal

But like… what are they? Cause population, weather, density and all of that are VERY similar. There won’t be many easier comparables to find. Why is Ottawa spending less than us per km of road and having it ALL cleared in 48hrs, including sidewalks. Broad claims about any of the things you...

The Edmonton Method - Snow Removal

Winnipeg and Ottawa have similar budgets per road km as we do. But they both also clear sidewalks and Ottawa in 24hrs. Anyone have insights on why? Seems like we’re getting fleeced.

At what point does Beljan benefit from picking this up and building a bunch of residential with their nearby properties?

    Downtown

Infill, bike infrastructure, and improved transit 100% helps the catchment area grow for downtown vibrancy. The more people who are 10-15 minutes from downtown by transit and bike will help a lot. Significant infill in all these areas is certainly happening. The quarters being the biggest issue...

    Winter City

Not sure that’d make sense. Multiple other rinks nearby. If anything, having skating close by could be a compliment and help sales.
