    Capital Line LRT

All of the talk about whether we should set up fare gates or not reminds me of the discussion with Skytrain fare gates in the lower mainland back ~15 years ago? Though I don't remember all the details, it kept coming up for concerns of fare evasion or public safety, but Translink said it...

    General Infill Discussion

Though this map will always look a bit biased away from the core because the 8 unit buildings are not allowed and never were allowed on the smaller lots that are common in older neighbourhoods. A standard 33' × 120' lot only allows for 4 units.

I'm reaching the point where when I go back and look at run down mid century walkup and think "wow, one colour and texture all the way around, it's kind of charmingly simple!" They're making me like pink stucco!!

    Edmonton Branding and Tourism strategy

Gateway to the North or something akin to that is a really appropriate slogan, because it's accurate, unique to us (at least for large Canadian cities) and it has positive connotations for both tourism and business opportunities, what with the growing potential of the north. We really should...

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

If you wanted a more fair comparison they have an extensive tram system in Moscow, but I don't know anything about their routing or operations. Would be worth digging into to see what they do differently though.

Just imagine what could happen once we successfully pressure Regency!

    Alberta Avenue (118 Ave)

This rezoning sign is a few years old now, isnt it? It's even the pre renewal zones.

Although a smaller format urban Ikea downtown would be cool, I think I'd rather have a second fully featured Ikea somewhere on the north-side even if it's not downtown. If downtown wants something hardware-esque it would probably be better served by a Canadian Tire or Home Hardware imo.

    Suburban Development and Sprawl

I really think we just need to do a better job of greenfield, rather than stop it. Residential lot sizes are reasonably modest, and there's always apartments, but then we're still building crappy power centres with middling transit access, laid out so that you still feel the need to drive...

You'll have to make do with MS Paint.

    Miscellaneous

I hope they can connect the CN tower to the stationlands boardwalk thing! Maybe even a pub or restaurant?? Just as long as they don't do nothing at all with it, that blank wall sucks.

    Midtown Multi-Family Buildings 1 & 2 | m | 4s & 5s | Tacada | Arc Studio

A high quality renewal on 111 Ave and Kingsway could be transformational for the quality of these spaces. Right now it's quite bleak, and not even good to drive through, let anyone walk or bike.

    O-day’min Park (formerly Warehouse Park)

I think we could use fencing like this or otherwise more frequently to add extra detail to planting beds and landscaped areas, especially in urban areas. It adds just a little extra structure to an organic bed, and does help discourage destruction too.
