Although a smaller format urban Ikea downtown would be cool, I think I'd rather have a second fully featured Ikea somewhere on the north-side even if it's not downtown. If downtown wants something hardware-esque it would probably be better served by a Canadian Tire or Home Hardware imo.

I really think we just need to do a better job of greenfield, rather than stop it. Residential lot sizes are reasonably modest, and there's always apartments, but then we're still building crappy power centres with middling transit access, laid out so that you still feel the need to drive...

I hope they can connect the CN tower to the stationlands boardwalk thing! Maybe even a pub or restaurant?? Just as long as they don't do nothing at all with it, that blank wall sucks.

A high quality renewal on 111 Ave and Kingsway could be transformational for the quality of these spaces. Right now it's quite bleak, and not even good to drive through, let anyone walk or bike.

I think we could use fencing like this or otherwise more frequently to add extra detail to planting beds and landscaped areas, especially in urban areas. It adds just a little extra structure to an organic bed, and does help discourage destruction too.

People sleeping on the hood is why it's still a great deal. 😏

Even if there's no fee we can still have a time limit to discourage excessive resident use. Vancouver makes extensive use of a 2h cap for areas with free street parking, even in low density residential areas.

It definitely feels silly when you park on a half empty street, pull out the app, figure out the parking number, go to pay, and the charge is only like 50¢. It's like, is all of that really worth the trouble at that point?

I'm certainly not in favour of of free-parking as a rule, but for parts of downtown that have underutilized street parking, the fee should be reduced accordingly until its mostly full. Otherwise it's a waste to dedicate the road space to it. If that ends up with it being free on evenings or...

The geese really control that hood right now. I was driving through a few weeks back, and they had all set up camp on the lanes of one of the roundabouts and they seemed very burdened to be asked to move out of my way. 😂

There's plenty of good examples of old apartments that were built pre-zoning, out-of-scale with existing homes at no detriment to the long term health of the neighbourhood. There's one on my block, built in 1916 and apparently has 11 units. 109 years later and it's still providing valuable...

There's a format that I saw sometimes in Vancouver, that includes ground floor townhomes, but on the third story of the townhomes they let out onto the building podium roof, with large secure planted gardens and play areas for children. I think that would be really well suited in downtown...

If we ensure everyone's commute has at least one roundabout, then everyone will get daily practice on how to round a bout and we'll all be better off for it.
