The 'not Edmonton' thread for inspiration or sharing of city travels

Recently went to the UK for a couple weeks and spent some time in Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool, and London. Some thoughts and photos below: Inspiration for the former Rossdale Power Plant: - Battersea Power Station (London): They have turned this former coal power station into a fairly large...

Cross posting with the events thread. Looks like Commonwealth will be hosting a friendly in the lead up to the World Cup. Canada vs. Uzbekistan .

    Massey Ferguson Building Redevelopment | ?m | 48s | Rise Real Estate | WZMH

Just got back from the UK and Unite Students have done a good job of developing some nice looking student housing. I particularly liked some of the buildings in Manchester (example 1 and example 2). Even some of the more basic buildings are way better than this (example 3 and example 4). Shame...

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

I agree with the pick up area east of the parkade. It actually works really well as it is much less busy than the front arrivals area. It would be a great addition if the walkway there was more climate controlled in the winter. We got back last week from a trip and met our ride over there and...

    Blatchford

Is this something where additional users/development on the utility will help with the rates (e g. from economies of scale)? Or is this something where potentially the future expansions of the utility may end up getting canned in the future if it continues to be a loss generator?

    Stollery Children's Hospital

Any chance the existing Canada Blood Services building could be used/converted for additional capacity at the UofA Hospital?

    Meadowlark Apartments | RMS Group

I'm probably the only one who doesn't hate how it looks. The grey squares by the windows are probably unnecessary and the street level activation could be better, but in person I don't think it looks awful.

    Yellowhead Trail Upgrades

I don't think there needs to be another active transportation connection here. There's already a SUP along the LRT line.

    Stollery Children's Hospital

Has the site been confirmed as the Canadian Blood Services site?

    Tower 101 | 175m | 50s | Regency Developments | DER + Associates

Or maybe the Holiday Inn or Double Tree.

Would be neat if someone did like an Enbridge 2 and used a similar design for continuity maybe with some hotel and residential.

    Yellowhead Trail Upgrades

I'm not convinced the 66 Street interchange is even essential, especially in an environment where it would be valuable funds for the City to save (or not have to pay extra for if over budget already)

    My bad! Missed it.

    Miscellaneous

Wow that would be huge for that corner, especially if they could get a good cafe to go in there.
