99 Street Streetscaping and Waterproofing

SUPs downtown are so dumb. Nothing makes me more frustrated than leaving the funicular and being forced to bike along the hotel MacDonald to connect to another SUP on 99st now.

Suburban and small town mindsets.
I think it's just a temporary thing until the project is fully completed next year. The project site says "The bike lane on 99 Street south of 102 Avenue will be closed for the duration of the project" and the renderings + streetscape plan show a two-way raised bike lane on the library's side. Given that there's still that fence and some other construction stuff obstructing parts of the sidewalk, it makes sense that they'd have a temporary SUP in the interim. I'm honestly happy with this (it'd obviously be better if they finished everything this year though), because active transportation is often an afterthought at best when it comes to construction work.

Definitely temporary, and also definitely annoying. I haven't used 102 Ave much though ever since I found out 104 103A Ave shared use path existed. Legally crossing 102 Ave at 99 St can take up to 4 minutes at times, the ongoing construction was icing on the cake. Yes 104 103A Ave is also very much affected by construction too but there's a usable detour.

I don't know what horrible thing Mr. Peter Macdonnell did to deserve this "legacy" "landscape" park built in his name, but good Gawd can we please let him off the hook and fix this thing up a bit? <sarcasm>
Seriously, this pathetic "landscape park" is a complete embarrassment no matter where it was located but especially given it is right across the street from our signature downtown square and right in front of our wonderful concert hall. Once again the Edmonton "half @$$" strikes again.. (Strongly worded email to CoE and the Winspear sent.)

I'm sorry, but it's hilarious that the city actually calls this wide blvd a park. And not just any park; a landscape park. You can tell it's a landscape because it has a tree and, uh, some rocks and dirt. And I guess some dead trees forming the bench? Yeah, this should be improved for sure.

Looks like it was designed by the same people who did the new Legislature Plaza, only difference is that the grass has died. Put down a few low profile rocks, surround with concrete, call it good.

I don't know what this looked like initially, but throwing in a few rocks and calling it a landscape park seems to be a huge exaggeration.

It looks more effort was put into the sign than anything else, but at least fix or properly maintain whatever this micro park was supposed to be.
