Edmonton Oilers

Barely.

This team had 32 shots and only 2 goals and for the longest time 1 on 24; this is simply not acceptable.

But my two bigger issues are:

1. What in gods name is happening with our coaching and team letting 97 getting F'd with over and over out there. No response, no fear, no consequences for going after him. Absolutely horse shit.

2. We cannot breakout, let alone make plays crossing the blue line. It's BAD. No confidence, no understanding of where anyone is and so we dump, ice, flip and hope.

Welcome to the new NHL. The days of the enforcer are long gone and guys don't want to break their hands, or noses, in a fight anymore.

It's not necessarily about fighting, it's about Podkolzin taking a number and putting a guy through the boards and skating away saying 'i'll be here all day son, stay away from 97'.

Do we bring Mr. Tate out of retirement? Imagine if 97s productivity went up 46%!!!!

Too little, too late, but I am liking more of what I am seeing... even if it was a 4, yes FOUR shot first period.
Defensive sloppiness and goaltending are still an issue though. Pickard wants at least a couple of those goals back from last night.
One play that stood out to me was during a high pressure moment when they were cycling in the o-zone and Bouchard simply lost all awareness that players from the opposing team can move around, got poached from behind and had his skin saved by Draisatl and Ekholm. We can't afford that kind of lazyness/lack of situational awareness.

Sad to see a potential talent in Howard shuffled off to the farm because of too much experimentation with lines, He and Savoie could have formed a formidable cohesive line with Draisaitl.

Rossy is ON again and such a wonderful addition to the group.

Hyman already adding value to our game.

Skinner solid and here's hoping a great 40 more.
