Bonnie Doon Mall had more people walking around this afternoon. I'm thinking the opening of the Valley Line LRT is the reason. I hope this spurs more shoppers, more retail openings, and the TOD redevelopment.

The TOD would be great, in the short term more retail would be nice to see.

Yah, this year alone I've seen Tims, Source, a clothing store, and one of the dental clinics go. The busiest store in there is probably the Dollarama...

I specifically went to the Safeway at Bonnie Doon yesterday just to have an excuse to take the train even though I live 4 blocks from the Unity Square one

Bonnie Doon Mall has always had a huge turn-over -- it always feels like a budget store place -- it needs a complete reno.

It will be interesting to see if having the Valley Line running now will have an impact on Bonnie Doon or the other two malls along the line. Interestingly, they are all struggling and I suspect the long delay in getting this line up and running did not help any of them.I specifically went to the Safeway at Bonnie Doon yesterday just to have an excuse to take the train even though I live 4 blocks from the Unity Square one
Also interestingly, two of the busier malls in the city already have LRT service and stations nearby.
In the long run, I think redevelopment here is needed and will help, but that may not happen soon, so in the meantime it would be nice if things pick up some.

Bonnie Doon Mall is becoming a mall with "eclectic" options. There's scores of shops inside that you won't find anywhere else.

You must have not been wearing your clearshades. There’s a good volume of people, and like someone else said it’s even more with the LRT running.

It would be extremely ironic if the mall gets a second wind that way, only for everything to be cleared for redevelopment.

Aside from Safeway, what stores are there currently that would drive the mass to the mall?

Dollarama, Shoppers, the Food Court and Makami all are usually busy. Aside from that it has all your Optometry needs and bowling.
