It's been over five months since we last checked in on progress at Columbia Avenue by Westrich Pacific, and the residential development is now popping up above grade.

Named for the historical name of 105 Avenue north of Downtown and Oliver, the EFG Architects-designed Columbia Avenue will bring 86 residential units in a wood-framed building set to rise to five stories.

The development is located on 105 Avenue at 113 Street, right next to another Westrich Pacific project - Park Avenue - that is now wrapping up.

These developments are the latest to go up in the growing "missing middle" community of the North Edge district, in what was once a predominantly industrial area that abutted the long-gone downtown CN yards. Plans are working their way through the City of Edmonton to improve the streetscape of 105 Avenue, adding new sidewalks, protected cycle tracks, as well as a public plaza to be located directly in front of the Park Avenue development.
