Four months since our last update, and progress at the site of the highly anticipated JW Marriott has been moving steadily along. With the hoist having come down last week, the nearly complete, 56-storey, 191-metre tower now appears very much as it will appear upon completion.

Designed by Hariri Pontarini Architects and DIALOG, the JW Marriott will sone become one of the ICE District's most distinctive towers, its smooth, scalloped edges giving it a subjective edge over its closest equivalent - the ever popular Stantec Tower

While the balconies continue to be installed, the tower's signature, smooth exterior is slowly but surely being filled in. Viewed above, the translucent crown, covering the two-level mechanical level, brings a great deal of visual interest to this already highly successful project.

Down below, a handful of final streetscape improvements and finishing touches to the ground floor remain. Once complete, the 262 condo unit, 346 hotel room development will add a great deal of urban vibrancy and street life to the ICE District, this corner of the city having become a hub unto itself.

SkyriseEdmonton will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
