A month since last checking in at the site of Symphony Tower, and progress has been moving along well. Recent photos on our Forum reveal the KENNEDY-designed 27-storey, 143-unit, high-rise to have come into its own as a lively, welcome addition to the Edmonton skyline.

Located at 106 St NW and 97 Ave NW, just steps from the Alberta Legislature, Symphony Tower shares its lot with two retained heritage properties - the 1907 Foot House and 1913 Parkview Apartments - which will be restored and incorporated into the finished development. As such, the thoroughly modern glass tower is grounded and thus nicely balanced with its historic surroundings, fitting harmoniously within its immediate urban context.

Viewed from the Legislature grounds, Symphony Tower's signature curves play well against the Edmonton summer sky, contrasting nicely with the deeper tones of the nearby gardens.

Down at street level, the efforts to transition the tower from glass curtain wall to brick townhouses, and then finally, to the original brickwork facades of the two historic structures on site, speaks to the careful design process that has defined the project to date.

SkyriseEdmonton will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
