Six weeks since our last update, and progress at the site of 100 and 300 West Block by Beaverbrook Developments has been moving along nicely, with cladding work well underway at the former, and construction moving ahead at the latter. Comprised in its first phase as a 16-storey residential tower and a 3-storey mixed-use, timber-frame office and retail block, what is collectively known as West Block is but the latest high-density project to call Glenora home.

Viewed above, cladding application work is now well underway, with glazing now reaching more than halfway up the tower. Clad in dark-tinted glass, the entirety of West Block will eventually have a more or less uniform outward appearance, no matter what major structural differences lay beneath the surface.

Moving over to 300 Block, the timber-frame construction, carried through the entirety of the structure, remains the most intriguing part of this project. Set to give the upper floor office spaces an airy, modern-industrial vibe, the heavy reliance upon wood, paired with a design scheme that favours extra-height ceilings and floor to ceiling windows, will likely make this an inviting space to conduct business.

At ground level, each of the two structures will feature some form of street/parking lot-facing retail, with a mix of restaurants, cafes, and shops to serve the mix of residents and office workers who will soon occupy the site.

SkyriseEdmonton will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
