Edmontonians are being asked to share their vision for the future as the City reviews its strategic plan for 2019 - 2028. Council's Strategic Plan, Vision 2050, contains principles to guide decision-making and ten-year strategic goals that will impact how the City delivers services to residents. A series of community drop-in sessions being held through March have solicited public feedback to advise and refine a draft of the strategic goals.

In 2008, Edmontonians helped form The Way Ahead, a ten-year strategic plan building towards a common 2040 vision. Since that time, the framework and its seven directional plans, the City says, has supported the transformation of the downtown core, the expansion of the LRT system, reduction of Edmonton's carbon footprint, and the construction of new civic amenities like libraries and recreation centres.

The new plan is an evolution of the previous document. Serving as a roadmap that outlines the direction the City wants to go in, the draft Vision 2050 envisions a more "people-focused city" with particular emphasis on smart land use, viable transportation options, a robust and diversified economy, and a transparent government. Draft strategic goals also point to Edmonton's drive towards becoming a low-carbon city that prioritizes smart energy options and infrastructure resilient to climate change.

A public engagement session is being held in each ward across the city. The remaining events are listed below:
