Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

What a dumbass. Unfortunately this is nothing new. I've witnessed quite a few cars turning right against a red light even when there's a sign that specifically forbids such an action (e.g. Jasper Ave/104 St, Whyte Ave/Calgary Trail). There should be a media blitz about illegal right turns, and there should be law enforcement cracking down.

The city should probably install "no right on red lights" indicated by a right arrow that is red on the streetlights. Honestly these accidents are sometimes forgivable considering the poor signage and traffic control.

I wonder if the signal phasing should be reconfigured at Whyte and 83rd:
(1) East and Westbound Whyte Avenue - Green Lights. (60 seconds, including pedestrian signals)
(2) EB and WB Whyte - Red Lights.
(3) Southbound Turn Signal - Flashing Green. Southbound signal remains red. Train signal activates to allow for NB and SB trains.
(4) Train signal activates to stop. SB light turns green. (including pedestrian signal) Left turn signal turns red.
(5) NB signal turns green (while SB pedestrian signal turns to don't walk.
(6) SB signal turns red, NB left turn arrow turns green.
(7) Left turn arrow turns red, followed by the return to Step 1.

The Edmonton Southeast Downtown - Mill Woods Valley Line is having its problems. But it’s not the only 1, as since 2014 MacEwan- Kingsway-Nait portion of Metro LRT Line still has signal problems, that delays trains through out the transit system✅!

No it doesn't. Since the new signal system went online it has been generally reliable.

Yup, if anyone has taken the Metro Line or driven through that intersection, you'd know that the signalling is much improved from 2015-20 (also, the Metro Line opened in 2015, not 2014 as it was delayed of course).

Apparently the Romans were a lot smarter than us… self “healing” concrete for cracks…

Nothing quite like the sound of a pair of jackhammers along the Valley Line RoW to make everything feel like status quo for TransEd, and that opening is likely a long ways off yet. Today, they were chiseling out concrete at 100A St and 102 Ave.
How is it that they are still repairing concrete within the ROW a full 2 YEARS past it's original expected opening date?

And to add to the fun. Was driving home last night, 99st and 102 ave. Was about to go north when some jack ass drove west on the tracks. No time to video it. But are they that stupid they don't see the tracks. Wonder how often this happens downtown.
