Old Construction Photos

There's some glorious architectural pieces there. Too bad Edmonton's history garners so little respect. Thank heavens for Old Strathcona, for Beljan Development, for Gene Dub and for ERRS.

A number of years after returning from war, my great-grandfather built this house himself in Allendale, I believe because at 6'8", most houses at the time were built without enough head room. The house was sold long ago but still stands today at 6803 105s St NW.

I sort of wonder what the area would have been like if MacEwen still developed the campus but the bridge was kept in place. Or if the Rat Hole had been replaced with a better wider less claustrophobic version of itself and the land above would have been left as park space connecting the university area as we basically see it now.

Having the Rat hole (or an updated version) still there would have been nice but the 5st bridge was pretty Shakey at the best of times.
