Don't know the Manufacturer of the St Al busses.

Late reply, but St Albert’s buses are made by Chinese firm BYD. They have an assembly facility in California and Ontario. Toronto’s BYD buses also had to be taken of the road for battery/mechanical work recently.

All I was told by the St Al rep was the busses had to go back to California to have the batteries changed.

Probably wont see the trollies return. That infrastructure would be excessively costly.

Has that hydrogen fuel cell demo bus gone into service yet? It may be a good thing they only bought the one bus in case some flaw comes to light like with the Proterra buses.

This is a vendor issue, not a technology issue.

it’s in service

It was in service. Last ran on November 17th. It was on display at CUTA. Returned to service on the 16th. It did complete it's full block on the 17th, so no reason to think there is a problem with it, but, it also hasn't been out this week yet either.
Strathcona's bus isn't faring as well. It last ran on the 17th for 1 hour before being replaced with a diesel.

This is a vendor issue, not a technology issue.

Did nobody in the City's Transportation Department realize that electric vehicles in general lose range during very cold weather? They appear to have taken the manufacturer at its word when it came to projected range per charge and the buses have never met that number.

Either that or Edmonton transportation officials were unaware that this city experiences very low temperatures several months of the year.

Perhaps the city should look at buying a fleet of electric vehicles for the EPS from VinFast.

Send them all back, Hydrogen fuel cell is clearly the better option for our market.
