Damn, 104th street is REALLY going down (or should I say going up) in history! It will definitely become the second focal point of downtown in the near future. On the topic of the tower itself, I definitely like the simplistic but noticeable exterior design, with the illusion of two different and contrasting towers smooshed together. It will be an appreciated addition to the skyline!
 
Proposed rezoning Downtown for residential tower with commercial podium

Edmontonians are invited to a drop-in engagement session to learn more about a proposed rezoning on the northwest corner of 104 Street NW and 103 Avenue NW.

Date: Thursday, June 13
Time: 6 - 8 p.m.
Location: 10420 103 Ave NW

The proposed rezoning from Heritage Area Zone (HA) to Site Specific Development Control Provision (DC2) would allow for the development of an approximately 28 storey residential tower with pedestrian oriented commercial at grade and underground parking.

Feedback will be summarized in a report to City Council should the proposed rezoning changes proceed to a Public Hearing for a decision.

Its great to see 104 Street continuing to densify. I quite like the design. The white portion to me is really reminiscent of the A.G.T./Telus Tower, which if intended, is a nice homage.

Now if only we could get that empty lot across 103rd redeveloped, and the old Horne & Pitfield warehouse across 104th converted into lofts.
 
For the last several hours my mind’s been trying to figure out where I had seen the name Clancey combined with that corner lot before; it turns out it was on a 1914 fire insurance map. The lot was originally occupied a century ago by a yard belonging to Gorman, Clancey & Grindley, a hardware, lumber, and “contractors supply” wholesaler. The Henderson Directory listings from the same year noted they sold everything from electrical wiring, to boilers, derricks and steam machinery.

A pretty neat nod to the past from its developers.
