Without knowing their service life/details, we cannot speculate on whether or not they should have been done now and can be replaced when that comes up.
Not so much the service life but the car conditions are pretty bad.The best part of all of this might be the improved parkade entrances.
That’s the spiritThe space looks better than Churchill Square!!
Any bets on how long before that nice landscaping is taken over by weeds, due to a lack of maintenance?
How long does it take for a weed to grow? It'll take that long, almost as long as it took for the sheet metal aesthetics took to get tagged already......The space looks better than Churchill Square!!

And if they had built the equivalent of Rainbow Park then Cartmell would have been whining about run away maintenance costs.Story on Global this morning continuing the discussion of whether Edmonton is paying too much for its projects like this one.
The plaza south of the library was apparently $17 million versus Rainbow Park in Yaletown (Vancouver) which was about $15 million. Their park was built 2 years earlier which given inflation makes a big difference. Our plaza also had to have the waterproof membrane removed over the parkade which added a lot of cost. Nevertheless Coun. Cartmell is highlighting this issue again.
Vancouver's park also features a three tiered playground structure, public washrooms and there's a coffee shop.
