Councillor Janz's motion to reduce funding for the recreation centre was defeated 8-5, so Administration's recommended funding approach for it is moving forward.
Agreed, but unfortunately the west and southwest councillors, as well as the Mayor, thought otherwise.I would rather this rec centre be mothballed for a few more years due to other priorities and until they can fund the LRT to it.
In other words never. LRT construction has other priorities for the next ten to fifteen years.I would rather this rec centre be mothballed for a few more years due to other priorities and until they can fund the LRT to it.
Not without adding Stony Plain. If only we could see LRT or a commuter train out to Spruce Grove too.
More like Spruce Grove (it's closer and larger than Stony, but even then we will see the LRT reach St. Albert before it goes to Spruce Grove). Not without adding Stony Plain.
Did they amalgamate?Spruce and Stony are one now.
No but physical boundaries have disappeared for quite some time.
Good point. Not quite as large as St. Albert, but close and growing fast. I do see the buses regularly going downtown, so obviously there are commuters and a need that will only grow as the population of the region does.Spruce Grove population 2021 Census 37,645
Stony Plain population 2021 Census 17,993
