I am not holding my breath
We'll get that money, or, promise of it, closer to election time.Let's see if they actually follow through with $330 million for Downtown - it's not like Marlaina or the UCP are the most trustworthy or stick to their word...
Fast forward, its April 2029, carrot plans for the Ice District phase 2 have been dangled for 10+ years, and you see this in the news - "City of Edmonton grants extension to agreement allowing gravel parking lots north of Rogers Place for 5 more years on the basis that it is only 5 more years and the Katz group said they need market conditions to improve before they intend to develop the lands. City council allowed the extension on the condition that the Katz group replace the 3 shrubs that were planted in 2024 and died in 2024, and if the Katz group installs hydrogen fueling stations for the parking stalls. If the city did not grant Katz this third 5-year parking allowance, the lot would likely sit vacant, which would be unacceptable to city council and the community. City council said this is the last and final extension, until such time that they approve another last and final extension."Katz Group granted extension to agreement allowing surface parking lots north of Rogers Place
The organization that owns the Edmonton Oilers and controls Rogers Place can keep operating the surface parking lots just north of the downtown arena for another five years while it waits to begin the second phase of Ice District construction.edmonton.ctvnews.ca
I agree - but were you not one of the cheer leaders saying an announcement was imminent months back?Useless information.
Probably, no wait that was the Alldritt tower, no wait that was a large quarters development/headoffice, no maybe it was the BMO tower, or was it the revival of the Edmontonian, or …never mind I lost track of all the claims and no startswere you not one of the cheer leaders saying an announcement was imminent months back?
^Why would they want to?
