Calgary currently has their NHL, AHL and WHL teams plus an NLL team all playing out of the Saddledome.Scheduling is my concern here. Rogers would definitely present scheduling issues with the Oil and little Oil.

Calgary doesn't have the concert demand of Edmonton though.Calgary currently has their NHL, AHL and WHL teams plus an NLL team all playing out of the Saddledome.
Yeah, with the PWHL schedule being less intense, it seems totally doable to fit it in. If LA can handle multiple major teams, I don’t see why the PWHL couldn’t make it work here tooThe PWHL schedule doesn't look as intensive right now. Each team seems to play every 3-5 nights, and not all of those are home games. I think you could fit that in just fine.
I mean other cities can fit in three major sports teams (LA before the Clippers left) just fine so no reason the PWHL couldn't fit in here
Exactly, Edmonton has enjoyed a competitive advantage due to the saddle dome roof structure. It has brought in tourism and lots of dollars but that’s about to evaporate and OEG is going to need to compete very hard to overcome the geographical disadvantage we face over Calgary. It’s a Real risk to our market that we will be driving south for concerts vs the current situation.A big reason Edmonton owns that concert game is because the Saddledome isn't fit to host the equipment needed for bigger shows due to its structure. Once Calgary's new arena is built I suspect the concert demand between the two cities will even out or even swing Calgary's way. Thats unfortunate but it does open up more slots in Rogers Place to potentially host a PWHL team.
Could be. The other line of thinking might be that with Calgary becoming a viable concert venue, some more tours might come through here as they now have 2 dates in cities of 1.5M rather than just one in Edmonton. I hope it's not "either CGY or EDM" and rather that they just stop in both. Money talks, after all!Exactly, Edmonton has enjoyed a competitive advantage due to the saddle dome roof structure. Nope......so you're saying the concert circuit will "bypass" YEG now in favor of YYC's new gigantic fireplace? I disagree, I think that they'll add YYC back to the circuit AND KEEP Rogers at the same time.Exactly, Edmonton has enjoyed a competitive advantage due to the saddle dome roof structure. We've had a 100 Commonwealth shows to ZERO for McMahon - so yay - we have the monopoly on outdoor shows for the next 100 years.Calgary still won’t have an equivalent to Commonwealth Stadium though, which pulled major concerts like Metallica, Morgan Wallen and The Weeknd
I’m not saying it will happen, but I can’t dismiss it as easily as you are. We often get multiple nights here and I know of many, many people who travel here from Calgary. Great situation for the promoter and performer, setup once and let the crowd come to you. They will now be faced with options - come to YEG only, park for a few nights. Come to YYC and park for a few nights. Come to YYC park for a night, tear down, setup in YEG for a night.Nope......so you're saying the concert circuit will "bypass" YEG now in favor of YYC's new gigantic fireplace?
