Sometimes I imagine what it would look like if we had towers on that lot, the lot across (directly across from Edmonton tower and Joey's) and the "trophy tower" site owned by Katz. Now that would give off some seriously big city vibes and give a huge shot in the arm for downtown.

I'm honestly devastated by this. Jasper is my favourite national park and is one of my happy places. Was planning a hiking trip there in the fall and now the town itself practically ceases to exist and huge swaths of the park are completely ruined.

Also hope that tower gets somewhere but I won't hold my breath given the history of development in the Quarters. Still wish there was more political will to truly transform this district into something special and different - even something resembling East Village in Calgary would be a home run.

I'm a public sector worker, but this is also why I constantly bring up the need for downtown to start attracting more private corporations to set up shop there. An increasingly diverse workforce and an increase in various businesses will have a positive spin-off effect that downtown desperately...
