Maybe they're trying to convince ATB Financial to put a branch there.

"Alberta mental health and addictions minister Rick Wilson told reporters he already had some of Edmonton’s core needs on his mind. “We need to do a focused approach with Edmonton, and I’m looking forward to working with the mayor. He’s a great guy,” Wilson said at the legislature Wednesday."...

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

"By year end, track from Lewis Farms to Stoney Plain Road will be complete, allowing us to work on the final connections." I wonder if this includes Stoney Plain Road itself, or just up to the 156 St./SPR intersection? Either way, it's exciting to see this take shape, and I'm glad that things...

Yikes, where did you hear that from?

I'd argue that washing our hands of the provincial government does even less, and that Andrew Knack's approach to provincial engagement has been a good start. The first thing they teach you in Policy Studies is that you don't stop communicating your recommendations when a government changes -...

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

I never said they were asking for that, and I did not say the province has to "solve homelessness" or addictions before transit will be safe or clean. Nor did I say that the city shouldn't hire more peace officers or janitors (which I am on record here as advocating for more, and contacting...

Because there's no room in the jails to hold all of them, so after their initial processing they get released until a judge can finally hear their case. That's a provincial thing. As for calling out other communities, Edmonton has been but that doesn't mean they'll listen. And again, that's just...

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

What action is the city supposed to take? Homelessness, addiction, and social services are a provincial responsibility. The judicial system is a provincial responsibility. Housing is a provincial responsibility. Every time the city tries to do anything about any of that, the province tells it...

Sadly not, they say that it's a collector road and thus needs to be done under the separate collector renewal program. They're just doing the design to ensure continuity :/

    O-day’min Park (formerly Warehouse Park)

A lot of the work was delayed so that utilities for surrounding developments could be completed first; otherwise they'd have to rip up brand new infrastructure to do that work.

    O-day’min Park (formerly Warehouse Park)

Speaking of which: Alleyway and Road Renewal Work Alleyway and road renewal work is required adjacent to O’day min Park to improve connectivity, upgrade infrastructure and improve access for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles in the area. To help maintain access to O’Day min Park, nearby...

    Exhibition Lands Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

Coming to Urban Planning Committee on April 21: Exhibition Lands Update - Explore Edmonton Land Needs Assessment Three big takeaways are: 1. The 15 hectares allocated to Explore Edmonton in the long term are not sufficient to host K-Days, which requires at least 21 hectares. 2. A third-party...

    Blatchford

Today, the Blatchford website was updated with a rendering of Crimson Cove's apartment at the northeast corner of the traffic circle at Blatchford Road and Alpha Boulevard. As a reminder: Major Development Permit Reference Id: Job No 571380992-002 Description: To construct a...

ETS Bus and General Transit Improvements

The report states that this will just be phase one, and that the ultimate capacity won't be filled for a number of years anyway. They did the same thing with the new OMF being built for the Capital Line extension.

    Blatchford

Expecting a build to go from start to finish in a single year is a bit unreasonable given that the more stringent requirements mean that they take longer to build. If we see solid numbers every year, and they continue to increase, I personally don't think it matters if they take 1, 1.5, or 2...

Yes. Going through the permits and counting main units separately from basement suites (I didn't count garage suites), here's what has been completed in the last year.

    Blatchford

I forgot to say this earlier, but last week there were some workers near the first phase of Blatchford Market (the mixed-use area by NAIT Station). One of their pickups belonged to M.A.P., so hopefully it's a sign that they'll start the utility/servicing work this year.
