    General Food & Dining Thread

Looks like Desi-licious on 104 is no more. Also, is it just me or does allowing a liquor store to open right next to Red Arrow seem like kind of a bad idea?

    Edmonton Oilers

Craziest part is Bouchard is at 26 is just entering his prime as an NHL dman. Excited to see what else he can accomplish over the next few years. Last time we faced the Ducks in the playoffs we could have only DREAMED of a 95 point RHD.

    Edmonton Oilers

Absolutely bizarro year. LA has made the playoffs this year with 22 regulation wins. That has to be a record of some sort

    Exhibition Lands Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

Is the City abandoning the plan to return 118th to at grade? You would think that would be an important consideration in this discussion, because their proposed long term solution of using the Coliseum lands for KDays would then require KDays attendees to exit the lands, wait to cross 118th, and...

    Edmonton Oilers

I'd take Avs over Kings. You know the latter will be playing with a boulder sized chip on their shoulders. Also: very much looking forward to watching some of these Pens vs Flyers games in the first round.

    Pavone Whyte Avenue - 10541 81st Ave - proposal

^ totally agree, long as it's a quality product with a thoughtful design similar to their inspiration, I'm totally cool with it.

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

Not confident that VLW opening is going to help anything. It's going to spread out the TPO resources more thinly as they need to cover more stations and trains. I also worry that WEM security will deal with problem individuals by dropping them off at WEM LRT.

    Downtown

I get the front end logic of 'private use of public space should have a cost', but man it's identical to the past Council decision to cull free downtown parking on Sundays/evenings: complete and utter lack of consideration for context and nuance that puts them entirely at odds with the literal...

Feels like darn near every lot abutting 109 south of Whyte has a project in some stage of development. North of Whyte also has some too, hey @IanO ;)

Pretty sure a REIT bought it some years ago from Procura

Worse yet it's not even a new trend here. MKT, RNG RD, 1ST RND

    Downtown Farmers Market

Also curious. The market this year will also have to accommodate access to the alley adjacent to Michael Phair Park (due to closure of the 102 ave alley access), which would cut down their current market space on 104 by around a quarter. Wonder if they could place some vendors in Michael Phair...

    Edmonton Real Estate Market

I do love the single sheet community facilities but if you take out the minor hockey nostalgia the facilities really do just suck even beyond their physical condition. Tiny dressing rooms, tiny showers, tiny foyer, cramped stands, etc. It's also cute having them in neighbourhoods until all the...

    Edmonton Real Estate Market

Says in the article they have 15 buildings they plan to list for sale and 12 more they want to close/demo. Probably going to see more old rinks/pools closed and/or demo'd, some of which are in really bad shape and are very expensive in terms of both CMR and operational cost.

Interested to hear more details on it. Wonder if it will be anything like the one ATCO built recently in downtown Calgary?

    General Infill Discussion

I like the idea of these homes as well and I'd like to think there are more than a few people who would like to downsize out of their detached SFH into something more 'multifamily', but simply don't want to share a wall or have neighbours above that could cause a lot of noise disturbance. My...

    Edmonton Oilers

I have no issue with OEG making a profit, but ya it's gone from "healthy margin" to unbridled price-gouging greed on anything to do with this team and it's really sucked a lot of the joy out of being a fan. I mean ffs they even cut back so there isn't even a dedicated usher per section. What's...

    Michener Park - U of A

Well, at least the City will collect a lot more property taxes vs when it was U of A property.

    LRT Safety

I do get IanO's point about citizens shouldn't HAVE to constantly monitor and report this issue and continually have to escalate it to different authorities--whether transit watch, 311, political office, the media, etc. The sheer volume of reports from IanO alone to transit watch should give the...
