    9955 Jasper Avenue | 105m | 34s | Great Gulf | a—A

I drove past this site yesterday afternoon and noticed there's been excavation happening in the northwest corner of the park. Does that mean this tower is actually happening?? I'm so excited...

    Encore Tower | 138m | 43s | Westrich Pacific | Dub Architects

Went for a drive yesterday and Encore makes a prominent impact on the skyline from the James MacDonald bridge, and also from the other side while heading eastbound on 104 Avenue. Excited for it to be complete.

Heh, 3D modellers probably don't make near as much money from projects located in boom 'n' bust cities like ours then.

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

Ah! I've never really paid attention to bridge construction before, so I hadn't considered how it's done. Makes sense there'd be land surrounding the piers during construction so that the crews have something to stand on and a means to get equipment to/from the construction site.

Thanks - should've known better than to trust the Sun to get things right.

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

They've narrowed the river considerably to make way for the bridge supports. Is excessive flooding or pooling of water in the areas under and around the bridge going to be an issue?

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

100%. And "Tawatinâ" just means "valley", doesn't it? Nondescript. Why not the Louise McKinney Bridge? The transit line is named Valley, the bridge doesn't have to be as well. Alas, I'm not in charge.

    Glenora Park | 81.99m | 22s | ONE Properties | Wallman Architects

The ravines are one of my favourite attributes about this city. I wish there were more. Groat Road is such a fun drive.

    Glenora Park | 81.99m | 22s | ONE Properties | Wallman Architects

Are those ravine trees going to be considered a fire hazard now, due to building proximity? I sure hope they don't get cleared. Could just be the way they look in the photos...I haven't been past this site in a while.

    Hat @ 122 | 35.96m | 12s | Cidex Group | NORR

I laughed and then... Wait - does that mean Cidex is calling our neighbourhoods only half-dressed??

Too institutional. This looks like it should be a new building at the Royal Alexandra Hospital or something. Less stucco = promising, though.

    Substation #600 | ?m | 3s | Beljan Development | Hodgson Schilf Evans

Looking forward to this - why the need for a pedway though???

Thanks Ted - appreciate the optimism - I need it :)

That's smart, and it would be a wise business move if the market improves at some point during construction. Thanks - hadn't thought of it that way.

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

Kâhasinîskâk Pedestrian Bridge? Seriously? Can't it just be the Mill Creek Pedestrian Bridge, or "the pedway above Connors Road"? Not trolling, just seems a touch excessive and political to me. One thing is for sure - it'll be an autocorrect nightmare for folks trying to rendezvous via text...

    The Parks | 146.91m | 45s | 35s | 13s | Pangman | Hariri Pontarini

Phased approaches to development in this city make me nervous. Please somebody promise me we won't just end up with a podium and one short condo tower off-corner for this development.

    The Parks | 146.91m | 45s | 35s | 13s | Pangman | Hariri Pontarini

Great! Let's get some shovels in the ground. Can we rid ourselves of the surface lot across the avenue, while we're at it, too? That Peace Hills Insurance mural is gross. Honestly, I'd prefer the blank wall in this case. Although perhaps the city could offer that building owner a tax break if...
