    Alberta Politics

Lets also not forget all the extra money they paid to private health care facilities run by their well connected friends and now, surprise, surprise no money left to pay teachers or nurses more.

    Edmonton Companies News & Discussion

I agree and we really should not just fall for the hype of other places, so I also appreciate those who look at this more critically. However, the bigger problem now seems to be a lack of jobs in Edmonton as compared to other Canadian cities, not just Calgary. So we need to attract something...

    Misc. Parks and Greenspace Projects

Also we really haven't expanded our river valley parks much, if any, in recent decades. So as our city increases in size the percentage of green space goes down accordingly.

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

Yes, location is an a big advantage for Halifax and seems to be a big disadvantage for us in more than one way. Still it is kind of ridiculous that a city several times the size of Halifax and with more people than even the entire province of Nova Scotia doesn't have at least some such service.

    7906 109 Street | 6s | Pagnotta

The first problem was many years ago when the road was widened and the street facing buildings were torn down. It remains more a residential than commercial street, but replacing the old small houses some of which have gotten run down with multi residential buildings seems to be happening slowly.

    99 Street Streetscaping and Waterproofing

I don't know what this looked like initially, but throwing in a few rocks and calling it a landscape park seems to be a huge exaggeration. It looks more effort was put into the sign than anything else, but at least fix or properly maintain whatever this micro park was supposed to be.

Century Gardens at Century Park | ?m | 7s | ProCura Real Estate | Gardner Architecture

The developers will do what they think works to encourage people to live here. I really doubt will involve a pedestrian only street which will make access more difficult.

    Scotia Place Reclad | 113.08m | 28s | Kasian

I went there yesterday after I saw the picture and the trees look great with all the gold decorations. I wonder if it is an homage to the building's past colour.

    O-day’min Park (formerly Warehouse Park)

This is the joke community policing has become in Edmonton, the police quickly driving down Jasper Ave in their SUV's. One of the reasons there is so much social disorder is because of the lack of police presence. Those who cause problems know well where the police are and are not downtown.

    Alberta Politics

Yes, trying to distract people by having on line polls about less significant matters like license plates and speed limits to give the illusion of participation while taking away fundamental rights is deceptive. However, this is how Smith and her gang have operated for a long time so I am not...

Yes, the recall petitions may be the fastest way to try hold these bozo's to account.

    Edmonton Companies News & Discussion

Perhaps a good term is IT adjacent, although maybe that is being too generous. I also suppose they have way more vacant downtown office space to try fill than us, so it wouldn't be the first time desperation was spun as something much more positive.

Century Gardens at Century Park | ?m | 7s | ProCura Real Estate | Gardner Architecture

Yes, the angle parking here is ridiculous. However, I realize not everyone will take LRT despite its proximity so a limited amount of parallel parking would make more sense here, more for people with disabilities, loading/unloading.

    Prairie Sky Gondola | 76.2m | ?s | Prairie Sky | DIALOG

I don't recall paying anywhere near that much, but I then I last went years ago. Also the Skywalk is newer infrastructure, which is not cheap or easy to develop in a national park. The gondola's have been around for a long time, so while there is maintenance and upgrades, the infrastructure...

    10123 106 Street | 24m | 7s | Westrich Pacific | Arc Studio

With oil prices not great, interest rates not as low as hoped and trade issues still not resolved, I believe there is general caution particularly about bigger projects now. So I feel it is a vote of confidence in the city and the area that they are moving ahead with this now and I hope if it...

    Tower 101 | 175m | 50s | Regency Developments | DER + Associates

I don't know him, but given his record with this and some other projects I can understand the sentiment. However, I would also like to be optimistic and hope that some of the negative feedback had led him to realize it would be better to exit this and leave it someone else who perhaps has a...

    Downtown Real Estate

I feel the question is answered in the article as yes with all the residential projects mentioned and there will probably be more in the future. I dislike the negative comparisons to Calgary, for once just give it a rest. If we want to have a successful city we need to get past this. Lets...

    Federal Politics

There have been and still are a number of parties which do not run candidates in every riding. The Reform Party, predecessor to the Federal Conservatives, did not run candidates in most provinces in some elections.

Yes, it is actually a nice display. I wish the DBA had a street front location.

Yeah, however I'm not sure they are trying to build anything at this point, which is the main problem. Before it was torn down, it was a bank building. So it really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone almost a decade later it had a big vault.
