Tired of people finding excuses for dumpy downtown. Freaking invest some money into the city’s core and repave the streets and add some landscaping!

You again miss the point. I am not talking about empty lots. What is your excuse for horrible Jasper Ave? Broken roads and sidewalks of the main avenue in the city? How long should we wait for the city to repair it? What’s up with the dirt parking lots? Can the city make the owners pave them...

So if Edmonton is a young city, it should look like a dump? I don’t get that logic. How long should we wait to get Jasper Ave repaired? 20 years? 50?

No we live in Canada, a very rich country.

I mean is that too much to ask for clean and good sidewalks and roads in Downtown? Can we fucking have a nice main avenue in this city? Can we have some good design and architecture and not this crap!? Is that too much for one of the richest cities in the most developed country in the world!?

Is this crap for sale?? Or rental?

Was down at Whyte Ave, three lanes in each direction, broken road, broken and narrow sidewalks, dust and sand everywhere…ugh

It’s looking worse than when it was initially opened. And the broken podium is not fixed. This city is a joke. Wonder how long it’s going to take them to fix the whole stretch of Jasper Avenue..

Lost all my hope in this city. I dread every time I have to go to work downtown. Learnt to love my suburb. At least it’s clean.

And how do you change the culture? By introducing bike infrastructure. Europe hasn't always been a bike paradise land. It took a lot of time to change the mentality. There are many cities in Europe that are not bike friendly at all. You wouldn't want to bike in Rome.

^^ There are bike lanes around the rec centre in Terwillegar, but that's it. I live in Terwillegar and walked everywhere and didn't see any painted bike lane. The article is from 2009. The city was learning how to build a proper bike infrastructure. How did it piss people off? I don't get it...

Where in the suburbs did the city put bike lanes? lol I personally didn't see any. Most of the bike lanes built in the core are protected, if its a busy street. Bike lanes are controversial in the heads of some stupid people. And most of them drive and will never go for a run/walk, let alone...

Thats actually the perfect time to spray it. Right before the snow. Otherwise seeds could star to germinate and then die when the snow hits.

This is BS, not rights... dirt field in the middle of downtown. Can't the city at least make the owner surface it with asphalt?? I hate those parking lots, especially walking there in the mud. Third world.

People who say we should slow down LRT - isn't it the reason why Edmonton has build only ONE LRT LINE since 1978?? It's been 44 years, how much more do we need to slow down? This rhetoric just makes me mad.
