The ONLY problem is having a YEG vs YYC mentality.

Adequate train travel and narrow roads VS wide roads and.... well.... wide roads....

    124 Westmount | ?m | 2s | Beljan Development | Dub Architects

Great news, 124 is rolling I love it. Wish there would be some 6 to 10 storey residential developments down 124 in the pipeline, like the stuff in Calgary's Kensington (Lido, Kensington, Pixel, Annex).

    Glenora Park | 81.99m | 22s | ONE Properties | Wallman Architects

This tower reminds me of my time working up near Fort McMurray living in a modular camp. A behemoth of stacked modular units... very disappointing.

Unfortunately, this is exactly the problem in Edmonton.... avoidance. Especially from the large suburban population of this city. Edmontonians, in general (not all of course), don't give a shit about their downtown and they avoid it as much as they can. Sad truth and an uphill battle.

    The Mercury Block | 21.7m | 6s

$300-350 for 550sf is over market value. Will probably need deposits on 80% of units to get shovels in the ground. You will not get 126 people to agree to pay over market value.

I hope they leave the brick untouched. The contrasting dark and light may look nice overall.

    Blatchford Development | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

The fact that Alberta has been in a major economic downturn that is now approaching an entire decade is definitely a factor.

    Tower 101 | 175m | 50s | Regency Developments | DER + Associates

Hmm ok fair. Personally I never really considered the flow of vehicle traffic into RHW as that much of a concern. I'd pick my battle elsewhere.

    Tower 101 | 175m | 50s | Regency Developments | DER + Associates

There is a parkade at RHW, if the area became pedestrian-only there would be no access to the parkade. Can the city do that to a structure, essentially bringing the value of that building to $0?

    Mackenzie Tower | 111.86m | 34s | Urban Capital | LEMAYMICHAUD

Such a shame Mackenzie tower not happening, was an elegant sophisticated design. I'm ok the site remaining as is with the old building if any future tower was any less than what would have been. Also ok with it if it means nearby proposals have a better chance of happening... Clancey... Shift...

    The Quarters Hotel and Residences | 280.1m | 80s | Alldritt Land | KENNEDY

It has also been mentioned that this is a legacy project for Aldritt as the company and the family name. Their general experience may not be in high-rises and this may very well be their first and last with so much involvement. Although they have cleared some prominent urban lots and put their...

How credible is this developer, Greenlong Construction? I can't seem to find anything on them.

Regency is really starting to hurt Edmonton's image... seriously it's 2021 and they are still building 1990 designs?

    The Clifton | 55m | 15s

That wall can work really well as long as they get the ground floor design right. From how that rendering looks, it has a very contemporary artsy vibe to it that is part of the whole picture with the garden and art installation. And I think that is what the architects were going for. Also, very...

And with all that activity, will drive interest for higher density development around the area. As much as some people despise this development, it has and will continue to have a positive impact on the community.

    The Mercury Block | 21.7m | 6s

This could really be a masterpiece if they get the exterior materials done right. Mixture of grey and beige brick is my vote. Oliver Exchange, Open Sky, Mclaren, and now this... this little pocket on 102 Ave is turning into a wonderful pedestrian-oriented hotspot.
