    Arc Smart Fare System

Tap off doesn’t matter within the city for fares. Although if you’re a fan of the city making data informed decisions, you might see tapping off as a helpful way to provide data on trip starts/ends. Nonetheless, it’s confusing how they’ve communicated (in guessing maybe because they don’t...

Oh boy hahahahaha. You can’t be serious. Bad faith argument for days haha. I’ll grab some pics of your special OEX3 once it’s finished and we can celebrate it’s amazing land use kitty corner to our 5 billion dollar train line.

The late hours is amazing!!! West Wihkwentowin needs some more late hours too.

175st is a residential road with driveways onto it adjacent to this property. So not quite “2 busy roads”. It’s easily large enough for a 5 over 1 MU project or a 6 story residential. Could even have done 8-10 stories based on the distance to transit and being next to an arterial. Look at the...

Agreed. We have endless TOD potential honestly haha. So it is what it is. Just so lame to be complaining about sprawl and taxes as a city, wanting to see better transit use, building thousands of wood frame apartments next to the henday, then adding strip malls and surface parking to lots like...

Hopefully they can make it work! Transcend and Mayday dogs both took good swings at that spot. A shoe spot too I believe?

Empty lot kitty corner to WEM station. Could have easily had a 4-8 story mixed use project. Instead we’re getting a 1980s strip mall. Any other lot along the southside of 87ave wouldn’t be able to do much more than duplexes or townhomes in terms of infill. Old, front driveway suburban homes...

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

https://www.edmonton.ca/projects_plans/transit/lrt-valley-line-southeast-public-engagement Lots of the history is here. Interesting to read how they initially saw the SE line as going to Macewan/109st. Couldn’t see anything that outlined the change to 102st. Anyone else know the reasoning...

    Blatchford Development | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

Yeah sorry, the street that the bike route is designated for. It’s 11 lanes of traffic PLUS a sea of asphalt parking lot to connect blatchford to superstore. Most neighborhoods have that level of; or often better, walkability to their grocery stores. Like the only way this is less walkable I...

Looks like transcend is open or close to?

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

Now that they’re out of land, yeah, it’s basically just 40-60 story projects next to the skytrain, or smaller missing middle along arterials and infills. Sadly our 20+ years of greenfield inventory will continue to compete with densification efforts.

Hence why all projects need to be concrete and built-in permanent stuff. MUPs in grass and permanent installs like 96 there. Not the hermitage temporary stuff. Too risky it’ll get removed.

    Blatchford Development | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

This will be huge. Kingsway makes blatchford so much less accessible/aligned with its vision for a less car centric community. Biking and walking connections N/S are badly needed.

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

As much as TOD is important, it actually doesn’t boost ridership that much until it’s substantially built out. The millwoods towers will likely only add a few hundred daily users. The long term vision of 6000 homes for MWTC will likely take 20+ years to build out. And with 6000 homes, I doubt...

Hopefully that means autograph will look to warehouse park shift projects instead of another west Wihkwentowin project for their next after Cobalt.

    Blatchford Development | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

As soon as a few medium rise buildings are finished I think blatchford will seem “legit” to most people. Those will be key for density, sense of built form, hopefully a little commercial vibrancy. The exclusively townhome feel currently is a little underwhelming for what the vision was sold as

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

129,000 projected daily boardings by 2047 I read in one report. Then in a blog by knack I see 49,000 for SE and 51,000 for west by 2044. It’ll be interesting to watch how it does. I suspect west will be a massive jump like everyone is saying. Tbh, if the SE leg terminus had been Macewan, and...
