    Terwillegar Drive Expansion

It just seems weird. Surely high loads would prefer a less sharp turn (i.e the turn should be skewed the other way)? It looks even sharper than the loop ramps. Moreover, why would high loads be travelling there in the first place? I really hope the Province ponies up the extra cash to build...

    Capital Line LRT

The proposed stopgap solution for the bottleneck at University Ave is to run additional bus service along 114 Ave. Nobody thinks there is going to be additional grade separation there anytime soon.

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

If it's enough of an issue that barriers are needed, it's probably enough of an issue to justify changing a platform design?

Having an island platform means people won't cross the tracks to get to the other side.

Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in Edmonton

The recent interim update report has further refinements to what was quoted, along with a concept plan showing the upgrades that would be needed to enable these routes (mostly repurposed lane space). All things considered, it is fairly achievable within the target date of 2030 -- provided that...

Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in Edmonton

If you look at my last post, they're two of the 'semi-exclusive' routes proposed in the Mass Transit Strategy. B1 runs north-south between Castle Downs / Century Park, while B2 runs east-west between WEM / Bonnie Doon.

    Terwillegar Drive Expansion

And the bus lane redesign is turfed. No need to spend more money for an inferior alignment. Just noticed the Ambleside transit centre / park'n'ride isn't included either. Oh well.

Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in Edmonton

Well, the B1 and B2 lines are going to be considered for the next budget cycle. Maybe with the Terwillegar line we'll get something like Calgary Max by 2030.

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

For some reason I thought the art seemed familiar so I looked up the artist and sure enough, it was the guy who did the "Naruto Deer" exhibit a few years back: Thankfully he dialled it back a bit for this piece.

ETS Bus and General Transit Improvements

https://edmontonjournal.com/news/local-news/edmonton-transit-money Badly needed. Sohi was really angry when the Provincial budget was announced, this along with FIFA funding goes a long way towards making amends.

    Terwillegar Drive Expansion

Well, looks like the ramp redesign may be turfed. Spending a million bucks to give people more backyard space was a lousy idea to begin with, the project probably will have other cost concerns (from inflation if nothing else). Also phase 3 plans are announced. Not a fan of split diamonds but...

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

I suppose you were in favour of the City subsidising Rogers Place as well. I also suppose you own near Stadium or have Elks season tickets and was personally offended by my statement? The argument that FIFA infrastructure facelifts is more important than long term access to the City's largest...

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

Why would you think that? It's not even where the Valley line is going. Quarters stop on Valley Line is about the same distance to EPS as Churchill. The 40 Ave (Ainlay) station was supposed to be built, but lost out to Stadium rebuild because FIFA was more important than schoolkids. Go figure....

    Terwillegar Drive Expansion

The transit lane is being realigned (to give some people more backyard space?)

    LRT Expansion Planning

Yes, and if you read my original post I said the routes could be further divided according to the types of lanes they ran on. There are also other routes that have sections with dedicated (peak or all hours) bus lanes, and yet are not considered "semi-exclusive" by this report. Edmonton does...

    LRT Expansion Planning

Fair enough, although I think it's the higher levels of government that declare an open day for funding transit, after which the municipalities put in their specific requests. So far I haven't seen this happen: in the recent budget Sohi was griping about more immediate priorities like COVID...

    LRT Expansion Planning

It has been mentioned elsewhere, but this is the interim (2030 horizon) mass transit network plan: The re-inclusion of NWLRT to Castle Downs was not in the original image, I edited it in. The proposed BRT routes can be divided into peak hour (97 St, Whyte) and all hour (Terwillegar/Fox...

    Terwillegar Drive Expansion

They aren't though. The only new bridges are at Rainbow Valley and 142 St, and those are for pedestrians / cyclists.

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

I tried calling the local dealership but no luck.

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

Stop density is not an issue, it's about the same for the existing downtown LRT tunnel as well. The single interchange at Churchill is more of an issue. I suspect people will cut through Manulife to connect between Bay and 102 St, similar to how people cut through Pacific Centre in Vancouver to...
