Agreed on all accounts. To further your point there’s definitely some demand in the Northwest for infill housing already. I watched these two examples rise in Wellington of all places, about as sleepy a mid-century neighbourhood you could find. Of course, Wellington's located on the very edge of...

    Stationlands Residential Towers | 90m | 25s | Qualico | DIALOG

I also saw an excavator doing some light digging behind the RAM as I drove by today. Pretty far from the building site, but maybe related?

This is going to be a long and impassioned post, but words can’t describe how pissed I am about this, and this quote in particular: I’ll be frank; Orozco and the City are out to lunch if they believe this. There’s no way they’ll be able to “create 15-minute districts” in Northwest Edmonton...

Got this is the mail today and I don't live anywhere near the Valley Line. A positive sign...?

Old St. Anthony's School is going up for sale as the ECSD consolidates its facilities. Would love to see someone like Beljan pick it up: https://www.avisonyoung.ca/properties?propertyId=10425-84-avenue-edmonton-sale

According to Situate Planning & Placemaking's website: There was a thread for it but the last posts date to 2020, with no mention of any movement: https://edmonton.skyrisecities.com/forum/threads/edmonton-bainbridge-m-2s-haynes-homes-designtwogroup.31440/ Haynes Homes still also lists it as an...

Jasper Avenue New Vision / Imagine Jasper Avenue

Yeah, it's probably the Hutchings or the neighbouring building, which housed Johnstone Walker's Department Store. When roughly laid over some recent satellite imagery, this 1925 fire insurance plan shows that the two of them met somewhere near the middle of present-day 99th Street. The Fraser...

Jasper Avenue New Vision / Imagine Jasper Avenue

^ I'm almost certain it's from one of two buildings: the Fraser Block or the Hutchings Block. They stood three and five lots west of the intersection at 99th and Jasper, respectively. 99th was realigned in 1975, hence why it's now under the street.

The Milla's gone. It may have been a dive later in its life, but with it goes an important chunk of Alberta's LGBT heritage:

^ I don't really see it as a problem. Of course there's always a time and place to ask for better architecture, but I don't think that's what was needed here. It's clear they were trying to match the rest of the architecture around Churchill Square, notably Tix on the Square and the Three...

^ That's true, but Gather Co. is one of those developers who renovate and renew buildings. They're the one's who own the Milla and it looks like they're actively pursuing a tenant: https://www.thegather.co/our-properties

    Stadium LRT Station Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton | GEC

^Great shots! This is a whole topic onto itself, but I always thought that the old Cromdale Yard would be a decent place to have a commuter rail station if you were to use the CN mainline. Sure, it's not downtown, but it's extremely central, right near an existing transit station, has plenty of...

    Municipal Politics

CTV News has declared Sohi as winner by a substantial margin. Knack, Hamilton, Cartmell, and Paquette, are declared re-elected. Salvador, Tang, Stevenson, and Janz are declared new elects. Esslinger, Dziadyk, and Banga are fighting for their seats. Caterina was voted out in a landslide...
