    Edmonton Oilers

While I also wish them well personally, letting them go was probably the right thing from a team perspective. If you’re expecting two dozen players from the best in the world to your press box depth to give up something financially in order to build the best team possible in order to win the...

    Stationlands Residential Towers | 90m | 25s | Qualico | DIALOG

I think that’s primarily from the city still having some combined storm/sanitary sewers downtown, not the area’s residents (although they can sometimes be problematic as well). Under certain use/weather conditions there are a number of intersections in addition to 101 Street and 104 Avenue...

    Photo of the Day

It was playing at being a farm cat while I was visiting friends in Moscow for a memorial garden dedication on the 1901 family homestead. It was a nice afternoon for both along with a bit of country road fast. The XJR had much more left than I did when I reined her in.

^ EPIC Market was conceived and is run by two Edmonton entrepreneurs who both graduated from the U of A, the business was financed in Edmonton, the project was completed by an Edmonton developer, the design was from an Edmonton architectural form, and construction was done by an Edmonton...

It’s probably not so much the cost of the courses per se but the lost time. My guess is a mere 1.5% reduction in productivity due to staff being away on coursework would more than make up for the projected deficit we’re looking at.

^^ Apparently both offer sheets were to the dollar a dollar less than what would have triggered higher compensation if the Oilers don't match.

Sooo… Exactly how is giving a third of a billion dollars of taxpayers money qualify as “private wealth creation”??? If you don’t think government can create wealth and economic prosperity, you too should be opposed to this.

.^^ 👍🏻 ^ I’m not sure how giving $300 million in provincial tax dollars to a private enterprise is a gift horse for tax payers.

I’m not sure how soon would be soon either given that (a) as far as I know there haven’t been any building permits applied for and (b) I’m not even sure the status of the last development permit.

^ I included Calgary so as to encompass Cidex’s Hat at the five corners intersection and their acquisition and cleanup of the Mirama site.

Jasper Avenue New Vision / Imagine Jasper Avenue

^ ??? It wouldn’t surprise me if local developers (I will include Calgary in that) haven’t invested close to $100 million dollars in the Quarters and likely a great deal more than that if you include Boyle Renaissance. It’s not local developers who have been missing from the equation.

They could have simply enclosed it and created a rear-round winter garden on the south edge and a glazed vertical shaft to provide natural cooling as was done with Manitoba Hydro’s building in Winnipeg, the British Museum, 20 Hudson Yard, the Marriott on Times Square etc.etc. If you take the...

^ The annex on the legislative grounds should be on this list. The original structure - the first true curtain wall building in western Canada if not in Canada - was expanded from 6 stories to 12. This being Edmonton of course, it was also prematurely demolished by the provincial government...

    Edmonton Branding and Tourism strategy

^. ^^ I don’t quite understand this need to find something to celebrate. Hell, New York City’s famous parade celebrates a national holiday and is sponsored by a department store who gets equal billing. A celebration is successful based on how well It’s executed more than on what’s being...
