I guess they are targeting the man-bun market

    121 West | ?m | 10s | Regency Developments | DER + Associates

$231,313.13 per unit avg, assuming there are 396 units. That doesn't seem that great but I guess land value is in there too. Let's hope they use the money for something worthwhile...

Another location that would be perfect for a no-car zone. Cue the outrage

Did they install girders on the bridge over groat this weekend or is that next weekend?

    South Edmonton Hospital & Health Campus | ?m | ?s | Province of Alberta

That's probably the only way this will happen. Citizens need to speak up and the mayor and city council need to raise a stink. The UCP will want to regain seats in the capital next election and if it doesn't deliver on projects that citizens are making clear are a priority, that's less likely to...

    South Edmonton Hospital & Health Campus | ?m | ?s | Province of Alberta

It might be a hard truth for you to swallow, MacLab, but there is probably a lot of truth in what TravellingChris is saying. The UCP sees the health care system as 'overbuilt' already and in Edmonton the South Hospital is competing with the new Stollery Children's Hospital project (which will...

    Car-Free Streets

I would make the entire stretch of 102 Ave between railtown park all the way to 124st a car free avenue. I can see people strolling, biking, scooting, rollerblading, food trucks here and there, kids playing street hockey or what have you. Zero need for cars. We don't need car free avenues only...

    124 Westmount | ?m | 2s | Beljan Development | Dub Architects

There aren't a ton of good options in the neighbourhood to be honest, in terms of finding a good variety of quality wines. I'm looking for walking distance from my house and there is maybe 1 liquor store that I would qualify as being what I'm looking for. Excited for this one.

Easy to call it a mistake for armchair quarterbacks. You can only build what you can get financing for, at the end of the day. I would love to see some 5-6 story buildings on 124st too but the reality isn't as easy as just building what you would like to build.

Does anyone know what that's about? Is it the little building next to the Bell Tower?

    Car-Free Streets

In my opinion it's less about which street/avenue/block we are talking about and more about the concept generally. I moved to Canada from Europe 30 years ago and in all that time I have not once seen any stretch of city ground go from being car focused to being for pedestrians only. Not one...

    Car-Free Streets

Exactly. I doubt my kids will ever learn how to drive or own a car. And I can only imagine how frustrated they will get with this city when they are older because nothing is built for their car free lifestyle. We talk a lot about becoming a city for everyone, but I don't see much evidence of it...

    Car-Free Streets

Hmmm I thought we were building a city for everyone. There are people that enjoy things differently from you. We are a family with two kids and we don't have a car and we are not big cyclers. We enjoy walking and strolling and unlike you I prefer to be further away from cars. We pay taxes just...

    Car-Free Streets

Maybe list a few places where you would be ok with restricting cars entirely, other than RHW. I know, crazy concept.

    Car-Free Streets

You just listed a bunch of places where we could build wider sidewalks.

    Car-Free Streets

so other than RHW nothing that would be off limits to vehicles anywhere in the city? Yeah I can totally see how you are not car centric...

    Car-Free Streets

So then you're a car-first guy who is willing to occasionally throw a bone to pedestrians but ONLY if there is a particularly heavy concentration of them in one area. Why can't we have spaces for pedestrians even if it is in an area where there aren't a ton of people at any given point in...

    Car-Free Streets

How is it inaccurate? 99.9% of roads in downtown Edmonton are open to cars and yet you oppose closing a small stretch of road just because there aren't a lot of pedestrians. Once you advocate closing roads that don't have heavy car traffic I'll believe that you're not a car first guy. Show me...
