    Blatchford Development | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

slightly off topic and I'm sure there's another thread somewhere, but what is happening with the reno of that historic hangar near NAIT? wasn't there supposed to be student housing as part of that? Haven't heard anything about that in a while and it looked like an amazing project.

    The Edmontonian | 277.96m | 71s | BCM | Hartwig

I think what archited is trying to say is that BCM is still alive and may still have plans to build something on this lot someday. Quite frankly, the simple fact that BCM hasn't gone into receivership is interesting and surprising in itself. It's probably far likelier (and preferrable) that this...

Went by Churchill today and it seems the poop has been cleaned.

    The Mercury Block | 21.7m | 6s

It's amazing how rarely the ROI on building active transportation infrastructure (and even just pedestrian spaces) is considered, even by those who profess to be be urbanites. We have such a long way to go to become anything but a car-first city. Hopefully amazing examples like the Oliverbahn...

    Miscellaneous

Of course we are only worried about eating up agricultural land if we're talking about renewable energy development. Sprawl? Scrape that topsoil and put up a parking lot

    Stollery Children's Hospital

Except the Stollery needs to be close to the U of A and the existing hospital.

    LRT Expansion Planning

Yeah no kidding. It amazes me that people move out the far suburbs and then immediately expect all the same services as the established neighbourhoods near the centre of the city. If you want those services, don't move to the fringes or at least be ready to wait until public transit is built out...

Don't be silly. We all know parked cars bring true vitality.

That's too bad. That would have been a really neat little development.

ICE District Block IJ | ?m | ?s | ICE District Prop. | Next Architecture

Oktoberfest is awesome, can attest. Do yourself a favour and buy a Stein for $15. My buddies were one of the first 100 in line and got theirs free. Not sure if they do that every day though. Edit: I guess it's over already. Go next year ;-)

    The Augustana | 96m | 30s | Pangman | DIALOG

I definitely think something can work in this space. As someone who works near this area and deals a lot of with GoA/bureaucrats and the stakeholders that go along with that, I can say that there are precious few options in the area for business lunches and private meetings. If someone designed...

    The Edward | 40m | 13s | ANU Developments | Gardner Architecture

I think this will turn out just fine. A lot better then the hot mess Regency built at the other end of the block, that's for sure...

I'm very impressed by how far they have come (in a short period of time) on the Groat bridge. Bodes well

The Edge (Five Oaks) Building | ?m | 10s | Five Oaks | Dub Architects

I'm definitely rooting for them too. It's just a lot of square footage to pay for, especially when you don't even serve much food (or booze, I believe). Best of luck to them!

The Edge (Five Oaks) Building | ?m | 10s | Five Oaks | Dub Architects

It's nice and they are super friendly. No idea how this space is going to be profitable, but I hope they'll make it!
