Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

The Q1 2024 update says that they hope to have Stoney Plain Road opened in Q3. I dunno about the bridge though.

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

Low floor LRT and streetcar service do have many similarities, but there are important differences too. Namely, streetcars more often than not share their right-of-way with vehicles (though there are some exceptions, like with some routes in Toronto), whereas low floor LRT has segregated...

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

In Edmonton, it was moreso because the city was too broke during the Great Depression to invest almost anything more than light maintenance - like replacing old rails and streetcars. In 1937, city admin recommended switching completely to trolley (and some gas) buses rather than trying to tackle...

    Blatchford Development | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

I also just noticed that this past June, a Google Streetview car went through Blatchford for the first time ever. It gives a great glimpse at where the neighbourhood is at.

Cycling and Active Transportation in Edmonton

Fortunately, it's due to get a little better with the pedway/streetscaping project that's underway. But I don't know if this part of the project is funded yet. Here's the project map: And here's what the website says about funding: "This project is currently funded for the completion of...

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

I think it was up to Taste of Edmonton. They had two entrances I think - one on each end of their 100 St. boundary. The rest of the perimeter was fenced off from what I could tell.

    Warehouse District Park

What programming will take place in that space? I was hoping for something like a cafe since that'd mean 5-7 days per week of activation, but if the DCL plans to have regular programming there, or make it avalible for booking, then that'd be nice too. I'll be happy as long as that space is being...

    U of A real estate

Engagement for the West 240 Neigbourhood Area Structure Plan closes today (July 8). Interestingly, the density and unit count are lower than the 2023 concept despite more medium-density zones being added. From their summer 2024 package: Density and unit count from 2023, for comparison:

    LRT Expansion Planning

You should take a look at the documents I posted above, a lot of the plants in there considered branch lines—down to station location and other specific details.

New Land Use Bylaw — Fort Saskatchewan

In this council package for July 2, Appendix B has our first glimpse of the new bylaw, including draft regulations for some of the mature neighbourhoods. There's some steps in the right direction, but I wish they allowed at least a triplex instead of a duplex along local roads.

    New Zoning Bylaw

Haven't explored it yet, but this could be a good way to follow trends pre and post-ZBR.

    Bonnie Doon Mall Redevelopment | ?m | ?s

This is just speculation, but I think the LRT line is the biggest factor. I worked at a store there from around 2018-2022, and it was already a dying mall pre-pandemic. Stores were closing left and right, you hardly saw anyone under 65 there (not a crack against seniors, but it's a sign that...
