    Metro Line LRT | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

I wonder if the Yellowhead freeway conversion project gets in the way of a park & ride? They will be starting work on that stretch of the Yellowhead this year, so access from the north side might be difficult and ever-changing for a couple years. I’d also be worried about the park and ride...

    Metro Line LRT | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

I used the new NAIT/Blatchford Market station yesterday and checked out the connection between the station and Blatchford as well. The connections between the station and Blatchford are not finished so you currently have to walk through snow to get there. There is also some ongoing utility work...

Looks like the announcement was taken off the website. We’ll see what happens…

https://www.edmonton.ca/projects_plans/transit/nw-lrt This is all I could find, saying that the station "opened for passenger service on January 20, 2024." Did they update the website a week early? Is there another announcement somewhere saying it will be January 20?

    Blatchford Development | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

I looked at the article again and I see it says "less than 200" and 57 "occupied", so I retract my comment on that front - it may be correct. But it is tough to square with the report that the City got in the fall which referred to 97 townhomes, which were 85%, with 67% containing one or more...

    Blatchford Development | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

There are a few things that are just factually wrong in this article: - no way the 57 occupied units/200 built numbers are correct. My guess is it is 57 lots occupied (with many having 2-3 units on the lots with garage and basement suites) and 200 with approved development permit but some...

100% agree that the Blatchford comms have been pretty pathetic. However, I’ve seen the comparison for Culdesac more than once and it doesn’t seem to be a good comparison given the scale. Yes, like Barnaby said, having a culdesac in Blatchford would be great but as just one (large) project.

    Blatchford Development | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

This would be my guess as well. I suspect that their reputation was starting to unfairly impact the reputation of other builders in the community, which the city certainly cannot afford. With Landmark and Streetside/Qualico coming into the community, I'm not too concerned that they are "losing"...

Looks like this building is retail on the main floor so it could be coming! Plus I think they need a bit of a bigger population in there before attracting a lot of businesses.

There is starting to be some real momentum on that side of Blatchford. The NX Build (15 units in the lot surrounded by Adair, Fane and Control Tower Way) is quite a ways along. Streetside Developments (26 units just off Airport Road) was doing some prep work this week on their site). 40...

Interesting stuff! I wonder how close this is to the eventual reality of the sewer heat exchange as that has been put until closer to 2030 now I believe. Not sure how people will feel about that odour smoke stack...

    Metro Line LRT | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

Not yet. A few months ago, they said it would be done this year but it doesn't appear it will get completed until the spring (unless this warm weather lasts a few more weeks). A portion of the walk between the station and the current development is likely unsanctioned at this point, but I wasn't...

    Metro Line LRT | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

There is supposed to be an unfunded service package to give them an option to fund the opening of the Blatchford Gate station. For better or worse, I doubt they will fund it though…

How’d you get so close? From the NAIT side or through the Blatchford mud?

When council was given an update on opening the new station(s) a month or so ago, they were told a connection from Blatchford would be complete before the end of 2023.

https://pub-edmonton.escribemeetings.com/filestream.ashx?DocumentId=197553 The City’s Exec Committee will be discussing this report on Blatchford at its October 13 meeting. Worth reading as it touches on a lot of what has been discussed here the last couple days.

Is there recent info that it might be moving? The DP was issued early this year but I haven’t seen much movement beyond a sign on the property. As a somewhat different product, this would be a great addition to the neighbourhood.

All of the current development is much closer to the NAIT/Blatchford Market station (which will open early next year) than the Blatchford Gate station (which is the one that may stay closed), so this should only help speed things up.
