Switch Tower and possibly the Connect Centre one. The rest downtown are either mid-rises or office tower conversions, unless we get some surprise announcements.

Switch apparently should start this year, based on what CBRE said in a report last year. Connect Centre might happen this year too but no timelines yet I think, besides wanting to get started as soon as possible from what other forum members have mentioned.

If all goes well, we should have more than a thousand units break ground this year, either from new construction or from conversions. We've got almost 500 units of conversions happening already or soon from three projects (CN Tower, Highfield Place and McKenney) plus whatever comes from the WSP building and the Standard on Jasper (no clue how many units are planned for the latter one yet.)

Actually the number of units is not bad, maybe a lot of it is not as visible because they are conversions, but they still count.

As I recall, there was a lot of whining about no conversions happening here a while ago compared to another supposedly important city and now we are catching up some, without big subsidies.

Why don’t you start a Winnipeg thread under miscellaneous same as Jasper Grande Prairie etc. I for one would be interested in keeping abreast on developments there.
