Alleyway and Road Renewal Work
Alleyway and road renewal work is required adjacent to O’day min Park to improve connectivity, upgrade infrastructure and improve access for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles in the area. To help maintain access to O’Day min Park, nearby businesses and the surrounding area, construction will be completed in six phases, with Stage 1 beginning as early as April 13. Pedestrian access to O’day min Park and surrounding businesses will be maintained throughout construction, though routes may change as work progresses.Stage 1: April - July
Starting as early as April 13, construction will begin on a new storm line utility and a new alley north of the park (see the Construction Stages Map). The new paving stone alley will link 106 Street and 107 Street. Stage 1 also includes a new pedestrian walk with low-impact development (LID) soil cells and streetscape features, including decorative lighting trees and planters, along the east side of 106 Street south of 102 Avenue to the new alley.
Traffic and Access Impacts:
- 106 Street will be closed south of 102 Avenue to the alley north of Jasper Avenue.
- Park access will be maintained for pedestrians and cyclists, and the parking lot on the east side of 106 Street will remain available.
- Street will remain available.
Construction will be on the north side of 107 Street between O’day min Park and 102 Avenue. Stage 2 includes new sidewalks, roadway improvements and streetscape features, such as decorative lighting poles, trees and planters.
Access Impacts:
- Pedestrian and business access will be maintained.
Crews will complete a new alley paving stone north of O’day min Park, between Khazana and the Alberta Craft Council building, just south of 102 Avenue.
