General Infill Discussion

My god, that's ugly AF! All one needs is one example like this for why people push back against infill.
Those are all clearly revenue generation properties. The landscaping will be a bare minimal and there will be no 'ownership' into the community,.

Might as well put up some portables and called it a day. Thanks, City Hall. You're turning the city I call home into a trailer park.
Don't denigrate trailer parks. Many are nicer than the infill that is going up. And they're affordable housing.

Disagree hard. Seems like a good housing option for those who want to live in the inner core but can't afford a sfh.

And what's with the assumption that they will have no care or ownership of the community? I can't help but see that as anything other than a classist assumption simply because it's a cheaper form of housing. I have met plenty of people who live in sfh who also have no care, connection, or interest in their community

Ok, see how that place looks in 5/ 10/ 20 years. And there's a difference between a massive infill that's not maintained/ looks ugly vs a SFH. If it's just one house, it's a blip on the block. If it's a large-scale infill like this and it looks ugly, not maintained - it will make the entire block look bad.

I just don't get it: one can still be supportive of infill but still push back against utter garbage. And that's what the above example is when it comes to infill: utter garbage.

Good thing the City requires three different types of cladding, otherwise we would end up with really ugly looking infill. Clearly the requirement for three different types of cladding is really resulting in excellent product.
Planners playing architect combined with architects that shouldn’t be and developers that shouldn’t be either…
