Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

The number of screened passengers at YEG was down slightly in February compared to February 2025, due to the collapse of U.S. (-7,859 passengers, -19.5%) and international (-3,173, -8.8%) traffic, which was not fully offset by the increase in domestic passengers (+9,106, +5.3%).

The data are from Statistics Canada and count only passengers who passed through security, eliminating people who may have connected or arriving passengers.

Canada as a whole saw a 1% increase in traffic over 12 months ago.

Apologies if my math is off.

Aren’t airlines submitting passages totals on every flight arriving and departing. AIF tracking?.

StatsCan uses data from CATSA. The reports from the airlines and airports take longer, which is why airports usually report a couple of months after the fact -- or several months if you're YEG.

another downside of limiting immigration.

Nice 👍 Air Canada showing Edmonton YEG 🇨🇦 some love ❤️!!

Damn, between COVID, US tariffs (and travel boycotts) and high fuel prices (twice!), YEG just can't catch a break.
Agreed. Even knowing the days that WS flies to YEG-KEF and return, I couldn't manage to book direct both ways this summer for the dates I wanted. The return must have been full or WS just wanted to route me through YYC out of habit!

Flights to Mexico being increased as a result. Would be nice if WS also boosted the Iceland flight to more weekly options.
