Defence Minister David McGuinty is announcing a $3.7-billion plan on Tuesday to build more housing for Canada's military.

The government plans to add 6,000 more units in 25 communities where the Canadian Armed Forces operate.

That's in addition to 800 new units already underway.

A report from Canada's auditor general last year brought to light how the military's housing units are getting older and are in poor condition. It flagged a shortfall in available housing across multiple bases.

CFB Gagetown in New Brunswick is slated to get 500 new units, Kingston, Ont., will get 900 units, while Valcartier, Que., Petawawa, Ont., and Edmonton will each get more than 1,000 new units.

McGuinty says the measure will help the Armed Forces recruitment, which he told reporters was up by 13 per cent over the last eight months.

Well, importantly the NDP is not pro-Hamas (regardless of what that guy I blocked probably said), so there's no contradiction.
If they are not, I must have missed it, but please feel free to reference any statements she or the party has made condemning them. Yes, he referred to Hamas so I responded accordingly, but the problem is broader than that.

The radical Islamists who are in power or control these areas are not known for tolerance of 2SLGDTQIA, but also have very dim views about the role of women, tolerance of other religions, minorities and so on ...

Here, for starters. Here. Here too—that's McPherson, stating uncontroversially that the Hamas attacks are war crimes and must be prosecuted. (Did you even check?)

And yeah, the radical Islamists are bad! But there's an obvious reason that Canadian people feel responsible for speaking out about Israel, because Canada has been shipping them weapons and propping them up even when multiple of their high-ranking ministers (Smotrich, Ben Gvir) are drooling at the prospect of killing as many Palestinians as they can. Meanwhile, we're not the ones funding the radical Islamists. We can condemn them all we want, but there's no support for them that we can withdraw. (Netanyahu, by contrast, did repeatedly approve funding to Hamas to weaken the Palestinian Authority and sabotage a two-state solution. Whoops!) Hamas is terrible, but at this point there's nothing that makes Netanyahu's government any better.

In any case, however much you oppose radical Islamism, I'm not sure what justification that gives to Israel's attacks on people standing in food lines and white phosphorus bombings, nor to its support for settlers violently killing Palestinians and forcing them off their land in the West Bank. (And let's be clear, the ruling party in the West Bank, Fatah, is not designated as a terrorist organization by any country, including Israel.) Yeah sure, LGBTQ+ people in Gaza are oppressed... does killing them help? Because let's be clear, Israel's government is not out to liberate them.

Overall this is a good article and noted that more visitors is not necessarily a good thing. However I hope some of the people mentioned don't break their arms patting themselves on the back.

The high numbers probably don't have much to do with their efforts. I feel it is quite likely some of people who would have otherwise went to Jasper, went here instead because of the fire and rebuilding there.
